Couple of questions here. First a little background...right now we're taking our first trip "home" and staying at BLT in October. We also have the Deluxe dining plan. So...

1. If you stay at a regular Disney resort and use your points, can you get the free dining?

2. If that is possible, is it really worth it to go through all the trouble of changing the reservation just to get free dining?

My understanding is that DVC members do not qualify for free dining.

DVC members DO qualify for free dining, just not while using their points to stay. Just being a member doesn't disqualify you from any of the offers Disney puts out. You just need to follow the restrictions with each offer.

Same with AP holders. Many think they can't do a package since they don't need the tickets. In this case, they may not want the tickets, but they do need the tickets to qualify. They don't have to use those tickets, but they will need to buy them.

Big difference...

The answer on this one is no... Can't get "free" dining, so it wouldn't be an option to have to rebook.
