June 12, 1890 – Junius Matthews, the voice of Rabbit for Disney’s Winnie-the-Pooh features, was born in Chicago, Il.
June 12, 1901 – Clyde Geronimi, the director of such Disney films as “Sleeping Beauty”, and “Peter Pan”, was born in Italy.
June 12, 1922 – Disney Legend Frank Fulton Burley was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Disneyland fans will know him best from the “Golden Horseshoe Revue” who first appeared in the show in 1962 until the show’s final performance in 1986.
June 12, 1928 – Richard Sherman, who would create many memorable songs for Disney feature films, along with his brother Robert, was born in Manhattan, N.Y.
June 12, 1935 – Walt and Lillian Disney arrived in London, England at Paddington Station.
June 12, 1942 – Disney’s Donald Duck short “Donald’s Garden” was released.
June 12, 1957 – The “Monsanto House of the Future” opened in Tomorrowland in Disneyland, and would remain open till December 1967.
June 12, 1959 – Songwriter-singer John Sidney Linnel, one half of rock duo They Might Be Giants, was born. The duo’s Disney credits include the albums “Here Comes the ABCs” and “Here Comes the 123s,” and the soundtracks “Disney’s Return To Neverland,” “Disney’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” and “Meet the Robinsons Soundtrack.”
June 12, 1960 – An official press preview and dedication took place for Disneyland’s newest Frontierland attraction “Nature’s Wonderland.”
June 12, 1975 – “The Walt Disney Story Featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” attraction re-opened by popular demand on Main Street at Disneyland.
