June 1, 1911 – Actor Eric Rolf, who played John in Disney’s “Song of the South” was born in Minneapolis, Mn.
June 1, 1922 – Actress Joan Copeland, the voice of Tanana in Disney’s 2003 “Brother Bear,” and played Mrs. Perlot in Disney’s 1997 live-action comedy “Jungle 2 Jungle” was born in N.Y.C.
June 1, 1924 – Disney’s silent black & white short “Alice’s Fishy Story” was released.
June 1, 1931 – Swiss artist Albert Hunter joined the Disney staff. He is known for his work on Snow White, which he gave it a European story book look.
June 1, 1933 – The 1st Mickey Mouse Watch was sold by the Connecticut clock maker Ingersoll-Waterbury.
June 1, 1933 – Eric Larson, from Cleveland, Oh. was hired by the Disney Studios at $15 per week. He would go on to become one of Walt’s “Nine Old Men.”
June 1, 1934 – The film “Hollywood Party” was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. A scene has Jimmy Durante “tangling” with an animated Mickey Mouse. This was the 1st feature film appearance of a Disney character.
June 1, 1935 – The Ingersoll-Waterbury Co. reported it has produced 2.5 million Mickey Mouse watches in its 2 year association with Disney.
June 1, 1937 – Actor Morgan Freeman, the new narrator of WDWs updated “Hall of Presidents” attraction in the Magic Kingdom, was born in Memphis, Tn.
June 1, 1947 – Actor Jonathon Pryce, known for his role of Governor Weatherby Swann in both features “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” was born in Wales, UK.
