Our first full day began bright and early. Even though I had gotten such a small amount of sleep the night before, I had trouble sleeping and woke up quite a few times during the night. Finally it was time to wake up and get ready to head over to the MK for Sophie’s 8:00 BBB appointment.
I ran down to fill our mugs at Mara and we had a quick breakfast in the room of muffins, juice, coffee (for Levi) and a Coke (for me).
Sophie had decided to wear her Princess Aurora dress for her BBB make-over, and before long we were on our way. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=529.jpg As soon as we left AKL we got caught up in the Ironman Triathlon that was going on. Traffic was re-routed and we had to go through the Animal Kingdom cast member parking lot and out the other side. It delayed us by a few minutes, but thankfully it was so early and there weren’t too many other cars out and about. I can only imagine what it must have been like even an hour or so later. We had no idea that the roads would be closed until we came upon it. When we got back to the room that night we had a note informing us about it. Haha, a little too late, but at least they did try to let people know.
Anyway, after our detour we made it to the TTC and were parked close enough to walk up to the monorail. Of course, at this time of day the Express monorail wasn’t running yet so we got on the Resort line. We made it to the MK right at 8:00 and entered the park.
Instantly I just knew that today was going to go so much better than the day before. There is just something about walking down Mainstreet that just makes me so happy. We usually always go to the MK on our arrival day, but with the Flower and Garden Festival we had decided not to the day before and I regretted it at that moment. Oh well. Anyway, I snapped a few pictures as we made our way to the castle. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=534.jpg
Sophie and I checked in for her appointment. She was seated right away and chose the Fairytale hairstyle again. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=535.jpg Her Fairy Godmother in Training this time wasn’t as talkative as the one we had last year, but she did do a great job. Sophie choose blue everything - comb, tiara, make-up - even though she had a pink dress on. I think it’s because her favorite color is green, and blue is the next best thing? Her favorite part is getting her make-up done because obviously at 4 she doesn’t get to wear make-up otherwise. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=545.jpg http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=546.jpg
We finished up and they informed me that the photo session had been moved to the Castle Couture shop (formerly Tinkerbell’s Treasures). I think this was a great idea because before you had to go all the way back up Mainstreet. Now they escort you right over to the shop to have the photos done. The shop is open before park opening so we were able to get her photos taken before 9:00!
Wondering what Aiden and Levi were up to this whole time? Someone had given Aiden one of the swords from CRT and he spent his time sharpening it on the ground and running around. Levi said he had fun, lol. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=550.jpg
We lined up at the rope right in Fantasyland for the 9:00 rope drop and were lucky enough to be on the very first Dumbo ride of the day! The kids love to ride Dumbo, but I do not enjoy the looong line. It will be nice when they finish the Fantasyland expansion and Dumbo has more capacity to make the wait shorter (hopefully!).
After Dumbo I grabbed fast passes for Peter Pan and then we got in the standby line before it got too long. This line does move pretty fast when you don’t have to wait for fast pass people to go through. The kids needed sunglasses pretty badly as the sun was so bright. I had brought their sunglasses from home, but of course left them at the hotel. So, they each got to pick a new pair. Aiden chose a Pirates of the Caribbean pair and Sophie got a Minnie Mouse pair. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=556.jpg
We then rode It’s A Small World, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise. The crowds were much smaller today which was a relief. We basically walked on to all of these rides. We figured Epcot was so crowded the day before due to it being a Saturday and the last day of Flower and Garden.
After we rode Pirates, Aiden picked out a pirate hat with Mickey ears. It was a little big for him, but so cute. We were able to fix it so it fit him better later. http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/ljv1975/Disney%20-%20May%202010/?action=view¤t=563.jpg
On the Jungle Cruise we got a little backed up and had to wait a little while to dock the boat. Our poor driver kept trying to keep everyone entertained, but it was clear she was running out of material by the time we were able to dock and get off the boat.
After the Jungle Cruise we sat on a bench and had a quick lunch. The kids had some Uncrustables and juice that we had brought with us and Levi and I each had a taco from El Pirata y El Perico. The tacos were good - the toppings bar is great.
Up Next: More time at the Magic Kingdom and then DHS for dinner and Fantasmic!.
