Booking two trips in one year?

Nope. Just whatever discount might or might not be available at the time you're going. Depending on the length of your stay each time you might look into whether having an AP will save you money.

We are planning a short trip in Oct. and again in May. We looked into tickets and will save money by purchasing the AP.

That would be my suggestion too! Depending on your length of stay the APs may be a better value and they regularly offer room discounts.
