Bring a tri-pod into the parks? My dh just got a new DSLR camera and he wants to take some pictures of fireworks (which you need to be very still for) is this allowed???
Thanks,
Dana

I would say yes. I've seen many people with tri pods in the parks.

I, too, have seen folks with tripods in the parks. My husband just got a monopod so he can take better evening shots.

Yes you can, I would suggest however, getting a bean bag instead of the tripod. I've used a bean bag with great success, and it's a whole lot smaller, making it easier to lug around all day. Considering the cost to rent a locker, I'd look that route. Actually, the cost is probably the same, one day locker rental or a bean bag.

I'm always worried someone will trip over my tripod and bring everything crashing down in a big expensive mess!

I took my tripod last year and got some awsome fireworks pictures! :mickey:

A small tripod like a gorilla pod or ultra pod can work well. I've used an Ultra Pod II which has a velcro strap so you can attach it to fences or other small posts. It's a little big to be pocket sized, though.

I wish I could post photos here. I got some great shots free-hand, using an ISO setting of 1600 or 3200.

I love tripods, but I can't imagine lugging one around. If it's a standard-sized one, you could also run into the trouble of people accidentally bumping it with their feet.

I use a 1 1/2ft mono-pod. It extends to 7 feet. It comes in handy when you want shots that you don't want other people in. I use it with my Minolta Digital Camera with remote and my Sony HD Video Camera.
