Pre-trip report: Carol (aka KylesMom) - our youngest granddaughter was sure to get sick at least once every trip altho she seems to have grown out of that as a teenager. mousekeeter mom - that was our first thought at Marrakessh, that the sauce wasn't quite what Sierra was used to. We never dreamed she was still sick. yjgirl32 - we can't imagine why we waited so long to see Philharmagic, it's so much fun. Much better for Sierra's age group than HISTA. Linda aka Faline - that available washer and dryer in the villas makes for tough competition for FW. Maybe we'll have to put a stacked w/d in our camper!

GM and PR leave on DME, AK in the afternoon and Trail's End for supper – 28 January

The Plan – GM and PR pack and meet DME for the trip to the airport. After a counter service lunch at Roaring Fork, GK, Sam, Sierra and I visit Animal Kingdom in the afternoon. We have ADRs for Trail's End, at Fort Wilderness, for supper, with packing afterwards.

What really happened – PR said several times that we didn't have to wait with them - we could go to the parks. We told them that this trip was more about Sierra spending time with him and GM than riding rides and she would want to wave to them on the bus. Which we did. They got on the DME bus right at 11:30, as scheduled. Then we decided to take the boat to MK, to do repeats there, as we had missed that the day before. We went to Pecos Bills for lunch, hoping that it was late enough to miss a lot of the crowd (it wasn't). We like the fixin's bar but really prefer Cosmic Ray's for lunch.

We rode Thunder Mountain again, as Sierra is so into screaming rides now. Then we went over to Space Mountain, for more screaming. But Sierra couldn't ride. Somehow, when Sierra rode it first, a couple of days before, no CM had checked her height. We hadn't even realized. We thought, from measuring her at home, that she was tall enough. A CM did check her height this time. She was just a little bit – less than a half inch – too short. She was so disappointed. We very nearly had a major meltdown – understandable but not something anyone wants to deal with. Sierra recovered quickly – Sam has good parenting skills – and we all got better scores on Buzz than we did a couple of days before. We rode the Transit Authority, one of Sam's favorites, and by then it was nearing time to leave.

We had a great meal at Trail's End, after resting first in the rocking chairs on the porch. Sierra was happy to play at the playground for a little before we headed back to our villa to pack. By bedtime we had nearly everything packed and ready for bell services in the morning.

We had heard, today, about a big major snow storm heading right across our route home. Sam had brought her laptop, and we had, at the beginning of our stay, decided $10 a day was not too much to spend for internet. Sam, PR, and GK all checked their e-mails every day. Now we searched the weather reports, trying to get a feel for where the storm was going and how much accumulation there might be. We tried to figure our options – do we stay over a day or two at Disney (pleasant thought), leave as planned and try to drive on through, or leave early (horrors!). We decided leaving early would not avoid the storm but but us right in the thick of it. We'd see what the weather reports were like in the morning and decide something then.

At the end of the day - It was a damper to have GM and PR leave already, and probably a good choice to repeat screaming rides at MK, to boost spirits again, even with the disappointment of missing out on Space Mountain. We told Sierra next time you'll be plenty tall enough. We had a great meal at one of our favorite restaurants (no special thing to be a favorite restaurant of ours – we like so many) and were even almost all packed. It was a good day.

Thanks for reading!

Goodness - I'm waiting to hear what happened with the weather and whether the weather caused you to extend your stay!

Love those rocking chairs at Pioneer Hall!

At least Sierra can say she got a sneak peek at Space Mountain by getting an early ride in!

How sad that GM & PR had to leave. From all of your previous reports, it really sounds as though they enjoyed themselves immensely!

I can imagine Sierra's disappointment at being stopped at SM after already catching a rocket ride earlier in the week. Good thing BTMRR gave her a wild one!

You know what? The packing thing takes us so long. No matter how hard I try & keep up with everything, it seems that it takes us hours the last evening to fit everything back into the bags we brought, including the box we send home. Glad that's out of the way for you. However - will you really be leaving?! :mickey: Great report, Jan.

Oh, poor Sierra and not being able to ride Space Mountain again. Sounds like she rolled with it the best she could and rebounded quickly.
How I love those rockers outside of Trails End! Something sooo peaceful about that whole area.
Another great day!
