Princess Storybook Breakfast and various Epcot attractions & supper at Roarin' Forks – 25 January

The Plan – We had planned a slightly different day today, than our regular morning park touring, rest at the resort, and evening at Epcot. First we were going to breakfast with some Princesses and then split up for awhile. Some of us would wander around World Showcase so Sierra could work on her mask while others would do Innoventions and some Future World attractions. We would leave Epcot about mid-afternoon and spend a restful evening at our villa, having a counter service supper (yes, we're on the dining plan).

What really happened – We slept in. We were operating from a “how does Sierra feel” plan and she was so far feeling okay. But it was good to have a lazy morning. Sam loaded her backpack with ibuprofen, an extra change of clothes for Sierra and a can of ginger ale. (Always close the barn door after the horses escape.)

Almost noon, we left for the boat dock and the launch to the Contemporary. GM and PR wanted to ride the monorail. We were of course traveling at a high volume time of day but were aware of that and prepared to wait. At the Contemporary, we took to monorails to Epcot.

Note here, GM had been plagued with a mysterious swelling in her left leg, following a rash she had a couple of months ago. The ramps for the monorail were not easy for her to negotiate, although she was happy to have the opportunity for the expericence. Regular - level - walking seemed to be well tolerated.

We headed to the Land for lunch at Sunshine Seasons after which we split up, with Sam, GK and PR going to Innoventions and GM, Sierra and I going to Canada to work on a mask. Sunshine Seasons is a bit noisy and confusing but we all wind up with something we like.

One of the nice things about the counter services that let you choose your sides and desserts from a cooler is that we can get the child choices, like grapes or carrot sticks, for dessert. The cakes which are offered with the adult choices aren't what we like to eat. On our September 2008 trip there was a chocolate pudding choice which was great and I miss it now. One CM told me that the pudding didn't go over very well and was discontinued.

Innoventions proved to be not as interesting as hoped, so Sam, GK and PR went to the Universe of Energy. Sam was glad they did this without Sierra as it turned out to be scarier than she remembered. Sierra would have been an unhappy camper.

We worked on Sierra's mask in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, American Pavilion and Italy. Probably this was about three countries too many, at one time, at least for this 5 year old. Maybe it's whatever bug she had/has. We did have a good time visiting with CMs and with other guests who had children doing the masks.

Sierra did see Marie at France – with no line! She was glad to hug Marie. Sierra usually has no interest in actually meeting and hugging the characters, except at character meals. About the time we got to Japan, Sam, GK and PR met us, having done all they wanted to in Future World.

Sam got a huge kick out of the Friendship boat driver, who, she said, looked about 12 years old but drove the boat as tho he'd been doing that for all 12 years. He swung the boat wide, over by France, where Belle was greeting folks. The boat driver got on the PA system, saying, “Belle, this is the big boat. We love you!” Belle was startled but waved at the people on the boat.

Sam got a very nice pearl in Japan. We were not aware of the elaborate ceremony accompanying the purchase of the pearl. We were very entertained although Sam somewhat embarrassed (blushing furiously) at not being able to follow the CM's prompts very well. Sam got a nice 8mm pearl.

We had a 5:20 ADR at Biergarten which we were ready for about 4:45. Food doesn't seem to last long with us at Disney World. I checked in at 5, and we were seated shortly after. Sam and Sierra went to get some food for Sierra but she was so tired, she put her head down on the table and slept, rather than eat. The rest of us enjoyed the buffet and the entertainment, which didn't cause Sierra to stir at all. We got our favorite beverage – the beer flight, which is 4 small, maybe 6 ounce, glasses of different beers. We all like a different beer (PR likes his water) so it works out. And we're such lightweights (at least in the drinking department), six ounces is plenty.

After supper, GM and PR decided to hang out at World Showcase some while the rest of us went back to the villa. We got back in time to watch one of our favorite shows – Chuck - while Sierra played with some of her Disney friends. Sam had brought down every one of Sierra's Disney plush toys. Very helpful hint, which resulted in maybe only one Disney plush toy being bought, the whole week.

At the end of the day - We had some good food, at both the Land and the Biergarten. GM and PR are already ahead of several other members of our groups over the years who didn't venture out on their own until they'd been to the World several times. We got to watch Chuck. Sierra had a very colorful and interesting mask going. And, best of all, she seems to be on the mend.

Thanks for reading!

Very nice, relaxed day. Sierra seems to have weathered it well except for falling asleep during the meal so it sounds like she is feeling much better!

I think you played it wise today by just taking it easy. It sounds as though everyone got to do a little of what they wanted, and no one was taxed. Well, except Sierra, who promptly fell asleep on the table at Biergarten!

I think it's great that Granny M & Papa are venturing out on their own! They're obviously enjoying themselves! :mickey:
