Free gift card with WDW Ressie

Hello,
We have booked 2 rooms at CBR and will be getting the 2 $500 gift cards. Question: Is this given as just a gift card or can they have it as a line of "credit" that I can charge against with my room card. I am not thrilled with walking around with a gift card worth $500. Also, can I get it in smaller increments and leave a few cards in the safe in the room. I never walk around with $500 cash in my pocket, I don't want to do that with a gift card.

My understanding is that you can use the gift cards to pay off whatever you charge to your room card. Not sure it you can get more cards with smaller values totaling $500 though.

We always go to WDW with gift cards - it's our way of saving up before a trip. They stay in our safe until we check out (or pay up when we've reached our max room charge) and then we use them at the front desk. No worries about carrying them around.
