Table is Set for Exciting Dining Additions Coming to Epcot

Walt Disney World Resort Press Release
January 29, 2010

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Two exciting additions are coming to Epcot World Showcase, with culinary expansions under way at the Italy pavilion and Mexico pavilion.

In Italy, an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria is under construction with opening planned for fall 2010 in time for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Operated by Patina Restaurant Group, the same restaurateurs who run the pavilion’s Tutto Italia Ristorante, the 300-seat pizzeria is inspired by Naples 45, another Patina Restaurant Group pizzeria on East 45th Street in New York City.

The casual pizzeria will feature wood-burning ovens – and will import water from a source that most resembles the water in Naples, Italy, home of some of the world’s best pizza dough. The menu also will feature pastas, salads, sandwiches and Italian wines.

The 14,000-square-foot space will include indoor and outdoor dining.

At Mexico, the popular Cantina de San Angel restaurant is expanding, and will feature 400 seats with al fresco seating for lunch and a perfect place for viewing “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” the nightly Epcot fireworks spectacular.

The restaurant will feature south-of-the border creations from the culinary team at San Angel Inn LLC, who have run both the outside eatery and the pavilion’s San Angel Inn for more than 25 years. Opening also is set for fall 2010.

Hmmm...I wonder how long it will be before special tickets or reservations are required at this location in order to get to that "perfect place for viewing Illuminations"???

well...Rose & Crown have always had 'special' seating along the water ... if you time it right...and it never cost extra...just have to be on the phone the minute they open to get an ADR at the right time. -- Oh yea, you also have to like ash in your food.

I love the sound of the new pizzeria! Being part Neopolitan myself, I'm anxious to see what their interepretation of "real Italian pizza" is like.

Sounds good.
I will now have a reason to stop by "Italy", for so long it has just been a walk by.

I am very excited about the Italian restaurant - although, I truly enjoyed the "old" one. I have many, many great memories of eating at the San Angel Inn on the water. I am thrilled there will be more seating, and maybe the viewing will be better than ever.

I hope there is at LEAST a take out window where you can get pizza by the slice, if it ends up being TS. Sounds like it will be TS, but a little less "formal" than Tutto Italia. The Naples at Downtown Disney @ Disneyland is very casual (i.e., no linen table cloths) and has a bar inside with flat screen t.v.'s that show sports and such. It also has an open kitchen, where you can watch them making all the pizzas.

I'm sure it will be on the dining plan. Tutto Italia is, so it would stand to reason this would also be.

I'm also excited about these additions to Epcot. The chance for a quality pizza at WDW is long overdue, that being said, I hope that it will be a CS dining spot.

We saw the printed screen in Italy this past week. A passing guest remarked to her husband' "I wonder what they are building there". I replied it was a new pizza place. She looked at me funny and asked how I knew that. INTERCOT!!

I wonder why the artist left out The Dolphin in the background of the Cantina drawing.

I agree that the pizza is terrible in Disney.
