Oh No! Not Phil!:(

From Eonline:

Phil Harris has survived crabbing on the Bering Sea. He apparently isn't going to let a stroke keep him down.
The crusty crab-boat captain of Deadliest Catch fame is out of emergency surgery and, according to his family, as salty as ever following a stroke last Friday.
"Today Dad showed some good signs of improvement, squeezing our hands and even summoning his trademark captain's bluntness by telling the doctors and nurses, 'Don't **** up,' " sons Josh and Jake reported Wednesday on the Discovery Channel show's site.
"We are encouraged but still very cautious. It is a long road ahead, but it's made more bearable and comforting knowing your thoughts and prayers are with us. We are strong because of you—our fans."

I was shocked, but could see it coming with the way he treated himself. Here's some special crab-infused pixie dust for his swift recovery.

He is the same one that had problems with a clot in his lung a season ago...right?

More :pixie::pixie::pixie: on the way.....

Yes he was the one that had the blood clot. Chain smoking while constantly drinking red bulls takes its toll on the body. Sorry to hear this and hope he recovers.

Word is that he's making good progress. Both his sons said that he's out of his drug induced coma and talking some.

Good news!

I adore Phil and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

It boggled my mind after his first scare with the clots - he kept on smoking.

I certainly hope he quits after this episode.

It's confirmed ... Discovery Channel's site is now reporting it as well.

R.I.P. Phil. You were one of the last true adventurers and will be sorely, sorely missed.

Phil Harris from "The Deadliest Catch" has died, according to his sons. Harris was 53.

Harris, captain of the Cornelia Marie crew, was a main character on the Discovery Channel show. He suffered a stroke in January while unloading crabs, but showed signs of improvement as recently as last week.

In an entry posted Feb. 3, Harris's children told Discovery, "Today, dad showed some good signs of improvement, squeezing our hands and even summoning his trademark Captain's bluntness by telling the doctors and nurses, "Don't f*ck up." We are encouraged but still very cautious."

Below is the message released by the Harris's sons Jake and Josh after their father's death:

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad - Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. - Jake and Josh Harris

DH, DS and I have all been watching for updates. This is one none of us wanted to see. We liked Captain Phil because of his blatant honesty. You might not like what he had to say, but you always knew where you stood with him.

It was hard watching without him when he was recovering from his blood clot. I can't imagine how the show will be with him gone forever.

Discovery had some really nice tributes running to him last night. It's really nice to see the outpouring of support and sympathy for the Harris family.

Very sad news. Our thoughts are with his family, as well with all of his friends. We felt close to him as the CM was built here in Mobile.

I was so sad to see this. Phil and the Cornelia Marie are my favorites...watching the show just isn't going to be the same anymore!
