alaska cruise august 2011

i know this is a long way off,but the wife and i were talking.with all the security and baggage checks & charges, how could a family of 4 fly to vancouver ? we figured the driving mileage is just over 2400 miles. we always drive to the world.just over 1000 miles.it just seems like each one of us would have at least one bag,maybe two bags. could we possibly ship our luggage to the hotel in vancouver ? would it cost an arm & a leg to ship ? do you actually ship your luggage or a box of clothes ? our trip is in august for seven days on the wonder.any thoughts would be appreciated . thanks

Our first Alaska cruise we flew Southwest (no baggage fee) out of PHL into Seattle since we could each bring 2 bags.

We flew in 2 days early and spent the first night in Seattle and enjoyed the city. Left the next morning and took the train up the coast to Vancouver. My kids LOVED the train and the view was wonderful.

We spent the rest of that day discovering Vancouver then sailed the next day.

On the return, we used cruiseline transfers to the Seattle airport for the red eye home.

It was a wonderful trip!
