Does anyone bother to make room requests anymore? It used to be a big deal to try and get the room/building/area that you wanted. However, it seems in the last few years most posters were saying not to bother, since they really didn't take them any more. We used to put in building requests and usually got what we requested or pretty close.

I am going to POP in April. The only thing I am interested in is getting the closest building without paying preferred. I am going alone and will be coming back late at night and don't want to walk to the very back alone. Or, is there an option of having security or a bell hop take me to my room? I have never been concerned with safety at Disney but this will be my first trip alone. Thoughts???

You can still put a request on your reservation. It is the faxes, etc that don't seem to be looked at much (if at all) anymore.

We've always put our requests on the reservation, and then asked again at check-in and have generally gotten what we wanted (or close to it).

:ditto: to what Heather said. Put it on your reservation. Don't bother trying to fax or call. It has a decent success rate that way. However, bell services/security will definitely walk you back to your room if you don't feel comfortable going alone.

They sure do take requests, and loads of people make them. Just call 407-WDISNEY and they'll be happy to add your requests to your reservation.

I still make requests but, as the others have said, just add them on when I make my reservation. More often than not they've been honored, even in recents stays.

As far as safety--I think it's fine to take precautions and ask if someone can escort you back to your room. However, I think you will find that even late at night there are plenty of people out and about at the resort and you will probably not be totally alone.

Call me cynical, but my fairly simple request at POR was ignored both times. In 2006 I asked for ANY room in Alligator Bayou, and got one in the mansions. In 2008 I asked for ANY room in the mansions - not picky at all about floor or building, and they put us in Alligator Bayou. I asked if we could at least have a ground floor room (since there are no elevators and we had a lot of luggage) and they put us on the second floor. I'm beginning to catch on - maybe next time if I ask for the top floor in the furthest building of AB I'll get bottom floor in the closest building of the mansions.

Yes, we still do building/room requests. And we always check in extra early to guarantee that we get them.

We put in a request on our last trip and got it. If you used a travel agent then they need to get them to do it, if not then do it when you book your trip. I am pretty sure you can confirm the request when you do the online checkin. And as others have said if you forgot then give them a call and see about getting it added.

Thanks all for your responses. I am not really worried about which room or building. I plan to spend every minute in the parks. I will ask someone to escort me to my room, if I feel I need it.
Happy New Year!!

When we spent the night at Pop in October we ended up in the farthest room in the farthest section (we thought we'd never get there!) but we (my 21 year-old sister and I, a 27 year-old female) weren't concerned about the security at all. Even during the time that wasn't really crowded there were people sitting around the pools, using the pools, and just walking around. We weren't nervous and my sister is usually worried about things like that. Have a great trip! :mickey:
