I know there are no doubt others out there in a similar situation.
Still looking to find the career opportunity that will change my status from an unemployment statistic to a sign of economic recovery. I've been a statistic since March, and it's getting old, especially since I've gone beyond the end of my severance period.
Today I am being flown to Chicago for an interview with another telecom company. I am hesitant to be too excited as that is an ingredient for let down. I am trying to resist the temptation to read too much into the fact that they are flying me to Chicago today for my interview tomorrow morning.
It's interesting, people often ask "So how's the job search going?". While I sincerely appreciate the interest and the show of concern it is an odd question. Ultimately, if the job search was going well I would have found a job and would no longer be searching. The fact that I am indeed still searching would seem to indicate that the job search has not yet been successful.
But, regardless of the outcome this interview, it is Christmas week. I hope we all are able to have a happy and joyful Christmas in spite of the situations we may find ourselves in. And as always, in the words of a familiar song, we "Just Keep Pushin' On".
So to all, Merry Christmas (from my tradition), otherwise Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or just Have A Great Day.
