View Full Version : And still the job hunt continues...But I Have An Interview Tomorrow!!!

I know there are no doubt others out there in a similar situation.

Still looking to find the career opportunity that will change my status from an unemployment statistic to a sign of economic recovery. I've been a statistic since March, and it's getting old, especially since I've gone beyond the end of my severance period.

Today I am being flown to Chicago for an interview with another telecom company. I am hesitant to be too excited as that is an ingredient for let down. I am trying to resist the temptation to read too much into the fact that they are flying me to Chicago today for my interview tomorrow morning.

It's interesting, people often ask "So how's the job search going?". While I sincerely appreciate the interest and the show of concern it is an odd question. Ultimately, if the job search was going well I would have found a job and would no longer be searching. The fact that I am indeed still searching would seem to indicate that the job search has not yet been successful.

But, regardless of the outcome this interview, it is Christmas week. I hope we all are able to have a happy and joyful Christmas in spite of the situations we may find ourselves in. And as always, in the words of a familiar song, we "Just Keep Pushin' On".

So to all, Merry Christmas (from my tradition), otherwise Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or just Have A Great Day.

Good luck!! My B-I-L has been out over two years now...not much work for a page layout specialist in a printing outfit -- everything has been sent to India.

Good luck- I hope it goes well. I know what you are going through- I had been unemployed most of 2009. It's very frustrating. I wish you the best and hope you find a good job soon.

Best of luck with the interview (and the flight!)
I hear ya on the "How's the job search" question. That is always one of the most annoying questions.

Hanging out in the Renaissance Hotel pondering tomorrow's interview. Almost wish I could have just gone straight to it instead of having all this time to sit around and think about it. Not to mention having to get up ubber-early in order to get ready, get packed, get a cab and get there in traffic by 7:45. Trying ...to stay relaxed and positive, but not wanting to get hopes up too high.

We went through a long period going through the same thing. Hope things turn around for you. After a 3 year search my husband finally found a job where we could all live together again but we had to move far away from home.

The plus is he really likes this job.

Wondering how Marker's interview went. Hope he's heard something.

My sister's been looking for almost as long as Marker has. Lots of folks looking for work in mid-Missouri.

Saw on the Career Center website today 3 openings for physicians in Jefferson City. Know any doctors?

I've been unemployed since the end of March. The vacation fund is gone, as well as the emergency fund, savings, and a couple of small retirement funds (took BIG hits on those), All I've got left is unemployment compensation. However...

The good news is that I've been offered a position with the University of Michigan developing a portable version of a gas chromatagraph, which I'm going to accept.

Got the offer on the 23rd, but because of all the holiday craziness I haven't been able to contact anyone to accept the offer. Start time will be mid January.

Best Christmas present I have EVER received.

So what happened? Hopefully the fact that you haven't posted means you started working?
