We are going to be staying there for the first time. What is a good Building or Area- we aren't getting a trundle. We would like to be in a scenic area. What is recommended? Also, can you use the pools and facilities of French Quarter when you stay at Riverside?

We have always stayed in Magnolia Bend, either in Magnolia Terrace (building 85) or Acadian House (building 80). We request these two buildings every trip. The landscaping around the mansions is great. It is a short walk over to the main pool and main building. Right outside all of the Magnolia Bend buildings is the Sassagoula River and a nice walking path that leads to French Quarter. It is probably a 10-15 minute walk over to French Quarter. Riverside guests can use the pool at Frech Quarter. There is also a boat loop that stops at Riverside, French Quarter, and Downtown Disney. The ride from Riverside to FQ is probably 5-10 minutes and FQ to Downtown is probably 15-20 mins. Along the way you pass by the Treehouse Villas and Saratoga Springs.

You can't go wrong with any of the mansions. :mickey:

We stayed at the Oak Manor mansion and it was great. It was a very short walk across a bridge to the main building that houses the food court, lobby, restaurant, and gift shop. In addition there was a quiet pool with laundry facilities right next to Oak Manor. It was a short 5-10 minute walk to French Quarter. We loved it and hope to get that building on our next trip.

Unsure about where to stay, but you can use the pools and facilities of FQ.

....it's all very "scenic"...very beautiful.....it's just a very relaxing, laid back place to rest in between parks....

...you can use all 5 pools at the Riverside, or the one at the FQ.....

....you'll love your stay at Port Orleans.....we do !!!!:mickey::party:

Depends what kind of scenery you like. We loved the Magnolia bend area witht he elegant mansion houses, fountains, and landscaped gardens...not to mention the little walk along the river to get there. Alligator Bayou is totally different, with dense vegetation and a real bayou feel to it. We HATED it, but other people LOVE it - go figure. But I felt vindicated as we were taking the boat back and a young boy from another family pointed at the "mansions" and said "Look mom! That must be where the RICH people stay" LOL Anyway, my personal experience is it doesn't matter what you ask for - when we asked for AB we got Magnolia, when we asked for Magnolia we got AB. Again - go figure ;-)

We're some of the people who loved our stay in the AB section.

We were in building #15, near the main building, but set a bit back, so we had less foot traffic, a short walk to the main pool and we had a quiet pool and laundry right behind the building.

We loved the dense vegetation, and the wandering paths (and the lizards that would poke out), felt like we were in the bayou, and was a great break from Disney. Just perfect :mickey:

Oh yes - the unexpected perk. You get lizards in the bayou, and bunnies in Magnolia bend, LOL

.....another Alligator Bayou lover here....our lizards eat the other bugs that are found on the "rich" side....JUST JOKING....not trying to start a negative "thing" here....however my sister stayed in the mansion side last June and said she had bugs in and around her room...she really liked the AB side and wished she was near us.....just sayn'
