France Pavilion in Epcot? I know he is usually over there as a plant during the Flower and Garden festival too :) I'm just not sure if he appears there as a character meet and greet.....

Correct! Lumiere & Cogsworth are indeed depicted in topiary form in the gardens in front of the French Pavillion.

Who's got the next set of trivia teasers?

1. Where can you find 3 horsemen and 3 hikers?

Soarin' it is. In the canyon scene you fly over 3 horsemen and climb to clear the ridge with 3 hikers on it. At the cut to this scene the music score changes slightly to include a more "western" theme of galloping hooves.

Totally have the theme in my head now! I so love the Soarin' soundtrack!

Is it either from Winnie The Pooh ride? or by the CARS characters meet and greet?

The only one I can think of is the Disneyland Resort Paris balloon with the 15 on the side to signify the park's 15th birthday.

You've got the right type of balloon. It is a hot air balloon but not that big. I think that that balloon is more than 600,000 cubic foot.

The hot air balloon that I'm looking for can be seen with about 7 other multi-coloured hot air balloons.

Hey Zawadi,
Here's a bid of side Soarin' trivia.

When you rode Soarin' all those times, did you catch the "blooper" in the seatbelt part of the safety spiel?

The 6 jets fly in from the right then the left & right wing planes break formation whilst the diamond of 4 jets continues straight on.

Following on from Joannelet's American Adventure question here's a list of the animatronic figures:

3x Mark Twain
3x Benjamin Franklin
Frederick Douglass
Thomas Jefferson
2x soldier
George Washington + horse
Chief Joseph
6x Family
Mr Brady (photographing the family)
Susan B Anthony
Alexander Graham Bell
Charles Lindberg
Martin Luther King Jr
Cowboy
3 people on porch
2x frontiermen
John F. Kennedy
Sailor + 2 ladies

That adds up to 34 so who/what is missing?

PS: I don't know the answer :)

Just a reminder that the following question from Joannelet is still open:

3. Which Disney theme park has the largest amount of cast members?

Joannelet
12-03-2010, 01:56 PM
In the great depression scene with the men sitting on the porch there are actually 4 men....not 3....
I have a link to a pic if you would like to see it. :) But I think that is where you are missing your 1 audioanimatronic from.

Zawadi I will send you the pic in a pm....

Question number 3 is still open!!!

Thanks Joannelet. After further investigation I've discovered that some of my earlier list is down right wrong and I didn't know the names of some of the depicted people :(

35 animatronic figures on 18 sets in 13 scenes

Benjamin Franklin & Mark Twain
Thomas Jefferson & Benjamin Franklin
George Washington on a horse and 2 soldiers at Valley Forge
Frederick Douglass
Missouri Family (Mother, Father, 2 sons, younger daughter and baby) with photographer Matthew Brady
Chief Joseph
Susan B Anthony, Mark Twain, Alexander Graham Bell & Andrew Carnegie
John Muir & Theodore Roosevelt
4 men and a dog on porch during the Great Depression
Franklin D Roosevelt
Will Rogers
Rosie, Jane and navy seaman
Mark Twain & Benjamin Franklin

Now back to Joannelet's final question:

I'm going on a limb and vote Epcot has the largest number of cast members.

Nope not Epcot. Just remember I used the term DISNEY theme park so it doesn't necessarily have to be a WDW one :)

Zawadi

I was also thinking Epcot, but seeing as that's not the answer then I'll try Disneyland Paris which I believe has around 14,000 CM's.
We're off to DLP for a short break in 2 weeks time and I don't intend to count them all ;)

LOL I expect you to count them all :)
You are correct!!!
The answer was shocking to me too but nope it is Disneyland Paris!!! :)

Here are the rundowns of cast member numbers per park :)
Disneyland - 8,000
Disneyland Paris - 14,000
Disney's Hollywood Studios - 2,800 to 4,500
Epcot - 5,000 to 7,000
Magic Kingdom - 6,000 to 8,000
Pleasure Island - 300
WDW Property-wide - 65,000
Tokyo Disneyland - 6,000
Typhoon Lagoon - 380

Time for someone else to post some questions!! :)

Here's a mixed bag of teasers for you...

1) Gene Kelly is shown dancing in front of which establishment within the Great Movie Ride?

2) What is "opening next season"?

3) I've previously asked how many dogs appear in the Pirates of the Carribbean ride but how many cats are there?

4) Who is Judy and what is her IQ?

Judy (played by Jamie Lee Curtis – love her!) is in Universe of Energy at EPCOT. She is one of Ellen’s opponents in the Jeopardy game. Judy’s IQ is 210.

Hi fellow trivia-masters. While Zawadi is dealing with his internet issues, he asked I post a short list of questions until he can join again. We will put Zawadi's list on hold for the moment.

1. What colors are in the flag for Camp Minnie Mickey? Extra points if you can describe the flag.

2. How many times does Jack Sparrow appear in POC? Can you name the scenes?

3. What are the sections called in the Festival of the Lion King?

You could be right. I know it is at least two.

I'm sure this isn't the answer your looking for for #5 but I thought it was an interesting tidbit. When I was little and HM first opened at Disneyland, I remember hearing that the Ghostess (AKA [unoffically] Little Leota) was played by Lee Meriwether (Miss California & Miss America, 1955).All the publications surrounding HM indicate that Leota Toombs is the actual face/voice of the Ghostess. From what I have read, Leota was also called Lee so that must be where the rumor started. I think the two women resemble each other quite a bit. Spooky. :ghost:

3. Why is the answer to question 2 of significance to Pixar?

Here goes #2 and #3:

A113 - it is the room # of an animation/graphic art classroom at CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) in Valencia, CA used by John Lasseter. (I have a friend who graduated with a music degree from there.) It is an "Easter Egg" added to animated films by alumni of CalArts and is present in every Pixar film. (For example, the lab rat's ear tag in Ratatouille, the directive never to return to Earth in Wall-E, the number on the freight train in Cars, etc.)

I can't help myself and have to provided extended trivia:
The school was originally founded/created by Walt Disney in the 60's by merging the Chouinard Art Institute (founded 1921) and the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music (founded 1883).

Welcome BugeyedMuggy! Great answer. You are correct on the attraction!

It was Pirates of the Carribean but I heard the reason was different than what you stated. The Imagineers thought the New Orleans theme wouldn't be as appreciated in FL as it was in CA so they did not include it in the orginal plans. After the MK opened, guests were constantly asking where POTC was so the Imagineers decided to add it.

The story goes that Walt approached Mr. Ryman, calling him Herbie, and asked him to draw the design for Disneyland. Mr. Ryman replied he didn't know what to draw and Walt said, "I'll tell you." Walt stood over Herb's shoulder for hours and the design was created for Roy to take to the bankers.

I told my girls all about Spash Mountain, I knew the story and I told them how much I loved that ride and it was my favorite! (I also remember loving Big Thunder Mountain and It's a Small World from that trip.) How can this be? Was it called something else in 1980? Was it shut down and reopened in 1992? It would have been impossible for me to know and remember a ride that didn't exist and this is driving me crazy. I even googled it because I thought it must be a typo on Intercot! Please, I hope someone out there remembers something ...

I found this on the internet "On October 2,1992 Splash Mountain opened in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World."

Splash Mountain wasn't even open until 1989 at Disneyland.

I know ... that's what I found too, but I swear I remember the ride from the early 80's (pretty sure it was actually 1980). I absolutely did not go in 1992.

I know. You can't know how utterly confused I am right now. The first time I ever went was in 1980. My second trip was in 2006. My youngest daughter was 2 in 1992. In 2006 as we planned our trip, I told my daughters all about Spash Mountain and how great it was! I told them about the story that was told as you go through the ride ... how could I have known all about this? How could I have been so sure it was my favorite ride if it wasn't even there when I went?

Oh! How about the photo of the Apollo 11 astronauts on the wall in the queue for Mission: Space?

"queue" - How very English of you :D

I'll give you Mission Space. Again you have given an answer different to what I was expecting...

Outside Mission Space there is a replica of the moon with a red marker on it. The red marker, in the Sea of Tranquility, represents the location where Apollo11 landed.

That just leaves the following questions...

2) What debuted, in Epcot, on 01 October 1991?

3) Where on WDW Property would you find the Village Pizza Parlor?

Re: comments on Splash Mountain...

Splash Mountain's construction started in the early 1990s and required a total rework of Frontierland including the old railway station being demolished. WDW's Spash Mountain opened July 17, 1992 (3 years after the one in Disneyland)

I've decided that either I rode Splash Mountain in a past life (lol!) or dreamed of it (saw the future?) I'm completely flabbergasted over this. I don't know how I knew so much about it that I actually told my daughters it was my favorite ride and that it told the story of Br'er Rabbit ... ? (I did ride a similar log ride at 6 Flags in the late 70's or early 80's as well, but it didn't tell any stories!) Anyway, I'm going to let it go now ... thanks for all the help.

:congrats:

In 1976, 50 replicas were cast and molded in honor of our country’s 200th birthday. Each state would receive one and place it in a spot of their choice. However, the state of Pennsylvania had a problem. They already had the original Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Why would they want a replica? Years later, Walt Disney World realized Pennsylvania had the replica and asked if they could have it for Liberty Square. Pennsylvania agreed and on July 4th, 1989 the replica Liberty Bell was hoisted and lowered into its permanent spot inside Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom where it still sits today. Florida remains the only state with two of the 50 replica Liberty Bells.

5. sorry I was not answering what you asked for.

The answer is Light Magic. It ran from 1997 and was a total failure being replaced quickly. Light Magic ran from May 23, 1997 to September 8, 1997. It did have a soft opening on May 13, 1997.
