I've seen a few posts where people ask what room/wing/building they should stay in. Is it possible to pick what room you stay in? Or can you pick the building? I though it was whatever they gave you, and you didnt exactly have a choice. Am I right or am i in the dark on this one?

You can make requests, both when you book your trip, and with the CM when you check-in, but nothing is guaranteed.
Some people like to request a room close to the elevator, close to the main building, close to parking, etc, and if possible you will get a room that matches your requests.
Some room types and views are bookable, meaning that you can pay extra for a water view room, a MK view room, etc.

At the moderate resorts, when we check-in, we have always requested particular areas/buildings. For example at POR we like Alligator Bayou near the bus stop ... Usually the CM will pull out a map of the buildings, show us what buildings are available and let us choose.
