Airline Baggage Fee Question

Am considering booking two one way tickets vs a round trip ticket due to flight availability (the price is the same). Do the airlines charge the baggage fees for each way or is it only once for a round trip?

It's always been each way & we always get round-trip tickets.

I just went round trip (not to WDW) and had to pay the baggage fee both ways.
