I was thinking of buying AP. When you purchase them online from WDW do they still send you a voucher? Is there an expiration date on the voucher? Can you check into your room and get an AP rate with the voucher?

As Genna mentioned, you do receive a voucher when you purchase A/Ps through Disney. You will need to go to any Guest Relations window to exchange them for your real pass.

There is no expiration associated with the voucher - however, it is only good for the parks that are operating at the time of purchase; i.e., if purchasing tomorrow, the four current theme parks, and if buying Premium A/Ps, the water parks in existence.

As to question #3, many folks have had to show their passes at check-in . . . and that's the official word. You are to have an active pass at check-in if you are buying into an A/P room discount.

Now, they may or may not request to see your activated pass, but the word is that if you don't have it, they could charge you rack rate - or you would need to run to the nearest park to have them turned into real passes before checking in. They could also ask that you bring your activated pass back to the desk later in the day to have it checked. If we're coming from Illinois on a voucher only, we are always primed that we may not be able to do pre-checkin unless our pass is activated. :mickey:
