Pool Question

is their a height requirement for going down the water slide? How deep is the water at the bottom of the slide?

Nope, but there is a one person at a time rule. Your child must be able to navigate the slide with complete independence.

Our youngest would use the slides starting at about age 2 wearing a life preserver. One of us would escort him up to the top of the slide, and the other would be down at the bottom waiting to receive him.

If your concern is with an adult using the slide, then I can tell you that my adult husband has been on every pool slide that my children have been on -- without issue.

The water is probably 3 - 4 feet deep at the bottom of the slides we have used.

Sorry just realized that this was at Fort Wilderness. My experiences are with other Disney resorts, not Fort Wilderness. I would assume that this is the standard, but I am not sure.

I think I read elsewhere that after the refurb, the FW Meadows pool is not 3' all around. Don't know about the slide, since I haven't been since the refurb.

We just returned from Ft. Wilderness, and no, there is no height requirement. Just must be feet-first and one at a time. Saw quite a few little ones not wanting to go down alone, but it's safer than two. Occasionally, there'd be a lot of people waiting at the exit to the slide in the water, just waiting for someone's foot to connect with their jaw (never got the chance to demonstrate and provide a lesson, darn it! ;-).

Depth of the pool is about 3 to 3.7 feet, depending on where you are and which sign you read. Even the signs for the slide differ (sign may have been brought from River Country as well). The current from the slide drives you across the pool, pretty much, so you have to work at staying there. I think we went down about thirty or forty times each, each visit to the pool. More crowded in the early afternoon, less in the late afternoon and morning.

Be a very good lookout, and you can score one of the umbrella tables. At the right time, all it takes is some walking around with a towel, a hat and sunglasses when you spy what may be people packing up. I was lucky our last two "camp" days.
