Did I mention how hot its been? Like your insides are melting hot, like I need an IV pole hot. Losing fluids rapidly hot. Hot.
I always heard to avoid AK when its super hot. Well, I now believe the total opposite. We found this to be the coolest park during this hot week. Tons of trees and shade and even though we were hot, it was bearable. We headed here first thing in the am after changing plans..we had planned a Tusker house/Nemo package lunch but changed our minds, we couldn't imagine a heavy buffet lunch during this heat. Instead, we headed to the park just after opening, and hit the big attractions early in the day. We had our Flame Tree lunch in the shade by the water. We had the whole patio to ourselves. Sweet. We caught the first Nemo show too. Our second time and just as good as the first. The boys headed to Dinosaur and us girls passed. We headed to Dinoland instead for some kitchy fun. We played games and my girls got silly.

By then it was really heating up..off for some iced Chai at the Anandapor Royal Tea Company.

It tasted like a Christmas Egg Nog, except it was slushy and ice cold. I couldn't figure out if I liked it or if it was just weird. It confused me!
By then we were cooked. Time for resort fun.
Khloe and Steve made themselves tiki's in the pool..

This down time is usually our best time.
We also did family volleyball on the court outside of our room..

We were exhausted from the heat and cancelled our ADR at T Rex. We just didn't want the hoopla. Remember, we are all about trying to relax this trip, not run to the "next thing"..We made a light dinner in the lounge, figuring on milkshakes later in DTD.

We love this spot by the big window in the lounge..we enjoyed Chicken Teriyaki skewers and Asian Slaw.
Off to DTD!
First stop...Ghiradellis!
Katie and I had Dark Raspberry chocolate shakes..Khloe and Steve the Caramel milk chocolate, and Kai, a cone of coffee ice cream. The shakes were strange..pieces of chocolate that make it difficult to drink..Katie had some fun with the ice cream guy...

He pretended to put ice cream on her head.
Then Kai met a friend in Legoland and shared his cone.

Silly boy.
Now what we came for! The Characters in Flight balloon!!! The balloon was not running when we first got there, storms and lightening were a threat. Finally at 9pm, it was running.

It was a little scarier then I anticipated. The pilot said we had to stay balanced, so if we wanted to walk around, we had to switch with someone on the other side of the balloon. No thanks. And it didn't help when Kai started jumping. Katie had resisted this balloon ride, and she ended up loving it! Simply loving it. This is her in the air..

The view was spectacular. I think only my eyes moved to take in the view. I don't think I moved a muscle otherwise. Ha ha.
We ended our night at the Cirque store. All five of us are huge Cirque fans. We have seen 6 Cirques so far. The masks are always a hit..

And I think this is the one evening we missed Wishes on our patio...

I think being flexible and staying relaxed helps beat the heat. Good plan! I have the same reaction to iced chai. Love the look of the view from the balloon! Cirque du Soleil freaks me out a little, but love the mask.

I think you are succeeding very well in making this a slower paced trip! Still, you're getting lots done!
