Hello Everyone,
My DD & 2 friends are working towards attaining their Girl Scout Gold Award! They have been planning the actual event for months, not to mention all of the work involved in the prerequisites, and they are almost there!

The are running an all day event called "Rock Hunger"! This is a Band Fest/NY State Champion BBQ Competition! There will be over twenty bands, vendors, raffles and food available. All proceeds will be used to stock food pantries around the Island!

If you will be in the area please consider stopping in to support a good cause!! It will be in a church parking lot right on Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, Saturday Aug. 29. If you can't make it to the event you can still help by checking out the web site or facebook. The sponsors are looking to see how much traffic they get online. Well, I have run into a bit of a snag!
Does anyone know anything about creating a non profit volunteer organization on paper? My DD wants to register Rock Hunger with the state since she is passionate about it and wants to try to make it an annual thing. Some family and friends wanting to help out sent her a few checks in the name of the event "Rock Hunger" and she can't cash them. So to avoid this in the future she wants to somehow register the group. Any advice?!

I sent you a pm with a checklist for creating a non profit in NY. She'd probably be better off having the checks made payable to her girl scout troop # and having them disperse the funds.

Well she went through the IRS, the State and we went to the bank so now Rock Hunger is all legal!
Wish us luck folks, the event is less then a week away now! :eek:

So my next question is...When I go rent the generators that are needed will they give me a crash course in how to use them? Is it difficult? Anything I need to keep in mind or keep an eye on? :confused:Thanks!
