Day 5-
Today is one of our “pool” days- no park, but pools and other WDW “non-park events”
First stop was : The Poly
This is an impressive pool, one because of the incredible volcano slide http://www.bryangalloway.com/polypool2.JPG and also because of the view from the beach. Definitely an A+
We had a great time on the waterslide, and the pool was surprisingly empty.
There was one incident that was interesting. We heard a family having an argument, I am not sure what it was about. All I know is suddenly the son was walking into the pool , when his dad ran after him and jumped on him and they proceeded to have a knock-down drag out fight in the pool. It wasn’t father-son horseplay. They were both very strong, I guess the boy was 21 or 22 yrs old. Then the dad put the kid in a sleeper hold. No joke. The sister ran over and started yelling at the dad, but the mom stayed quiet.
All I can say is that it was shocking. Then SUDDENLY, about 15 Disney security people came out of nowhere and grabbed them all and escorted them out immediately. From start to finish it was like 2 minutes. Then everything was back to normal Disney atmosphere. These Security cleaners were swift and quick. It was like nothing ever happened...
I don’t know what happened afterwards, but the family never came back.

We went to Capt. Hooks for lunch. It wasn’t too bad, a Brating and the fact they had Dole Whips made me very happy. That was a definite highlight. I had heard bad reports about it, but we liked it.
After lunch we went to the Carribean Resort and went in that pool- http://www.bryangalloway.com/caebeach1.JPG this was also very nice, it had 2 nice waterslides and it was very kid friendly. Now I can say that they also had a realy cool kids play area separate from the main pool but close enough to get there in 5 seconds. http://www.bryangalloway.com/caribbeach3.JPG
My kids really liked that, especially the giant bucket that would fill up and tip over to splash the kids with a giant rush of water. ( kind of like “funtime/splashtime” in Maine) . This gave the pool area a decent rating.
Next on to Old Key West pool, it was terrific, maybe not as spectacular, but it was very fun .

We then went back to the room to get dressed for dinner. Our dinner that night was one of our secret favorites, Boatwrights. http://www.bryangalloway.com/boatwrites.JPG I must say, we have gone to boatwrights 4 straight years and we have had 4 terrific meals. We had our friends with us and they loved it also. it got a B+ A- The service was great and the cornbread was just mouthwatering. I had a roasted chicken dish that made me realize how much I like chicken done well. Because it was superb. Its definitely a nice quiet experience . But consistencey and good service will keep us coming.
After Dinner we went to Fantasia Golf and I was very impressed with the mini golf course, possibly the best I have ever seen. We played 9 holes when the rain started and we couldn’t finish. But they gave us a buy 1 get 2 free coupon for another round. No expiration.
We then trecked over to DTD and headed for Disney Quest. They discount tickets after 7pm so we got 2.5 hours to play a bunch of games. We also hit the Animation academy there also. I am a game person and love my video games, so DQ is such a great alternative for rainy days. My kids had a ball and so did I. Basically they had to ask us to leave as they closed. We were the last family there.
We walked over to Candy Cauldren, got some fudge and then went home, very tired.

No Updates on the Jon/Kate hairdo and no interaction with the redneck guys...

No photo of the fight? Just of the Poly pool?

I wonder where the security guys came from? To respond that quickly, they must have been really close by. It's not the type of thing that you want to see (or have your kids see) in the 'Happiest Place on Earth,' but it's good to know that security is close and responds quickly when they are needed.

Back in the days when all Disney guests were allowed to pool hop (not just DVC owners), the Poly pool was one we visited frequently. Back in those days, we usually stayed at Fort Wilderness. We, too, experienced an incident at the Poly pool but not quite as dramatic as the one you experienced. While we were lounging around, a group a rather rough looking individuals showed up at the pool. Almost as quickly, security was there and inquiring as to whether they were guests. Apparently, they were not, as they were very quickly ushered out and away.

Looks like you're getting to visit a variety of the swimming options offered by Disney! We hope to buy into DVC and might plan a similar tour! Sounds like fun!

I was very impressed with the speed and efficiency of the security. In reality if i didnt happene to be close to the action, i may never have really known what happened.

we loved the poly pool and volcano slide. About that pool incident, all I can say is 'holy ****'. I'm glad that they cleaned it up quickly.

CBR pool looks really nice! They were buildng it when we stayed there last June, so its very new... sorry we missed it.

We've never done DQ, but it sounds like fun! good to know about the after 7 pm discount.

That's too bad about the fight in the pool. If those people act that way in public...makes you wonder. Anyway, the Poly pool looks awesome and the CB pool also looks like a place my kids would love. Thanks for all the pics.
