Ok - so now I'm somewhat obsessed on what it means when we are looking at Touring Plans and see the best park/parks to avoid and crowd level.

For those of you who are mega familiar with all of it - what does it mean if AK is the best park for the day, and crowd level is a 6? Does that mean it's a 6 at ALL the parks, or JUST AK? And is the 6 JUST for the most popular rides? Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

They don't break it down by individual parks, but do give you the "best and worst" parks to see that day. A 6 is actually an average crowd. You will see an occasional 10 but mostly 9's during peak times. About the lowest score I've ever seen is a 4 and that doesn't happen very often.

So the bottom line is, if you have 6's during your trip you should be in good - almost great- shape if you get to the parks early and use fastpass. We are going from August 1-8, which shows all 6's. I am expecting lower crowds than average for that time of year. And I'm going to be in Kansas City next week and hopefully seeing another baseball game at the 3&2 complex if my nephews are playing on Thursday. I'll keep you posted. Mark

The Crowd Level column is based on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being least crowded conditions and 10 being most crowded. The scale measures the peak wait time at the Magic Kingdom's three headliner attractions (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). Thus, the Crowd Level is a "worst case" scenario, predicting the longest wait at any of these three attractions on a particular day. Predictions for parks other than the Magic Kingdom are an approximation

Where does one find such ratings?

Touring plans are associated with the "Unofficial Guide..." series and can be found on their website.

Honestly, I'd LOVE to be there when crowd levels are at 6. We generally are limited to spring break, so crowd levels of 9-10 are very common.

My wife and I will be staying at OKW Nov. 1-9. For most of the week, the crowd levels are either a 5 or a 6, but it jumps to 9 on Friday (Allison's birthday). Can anyone tell me why it spikes like that? Is there something special going on or do Fridays just get that crowded in general?

I'm not looking at a calendar, but check to see if MK has EMH that evening or morning. Sometimes the emh's at MK, especially on a Friday can really increase the crowds. As one of the posters on this thread mentioned, it is stating the peak wait times at MK's 3 main headliners. Otherwise, I"m not sure what would spike it so much - unless it's the start of what they consider "Jersey Week" which is the week that New Jersey people come in.

Oh - just checked and Veteran's Day is November 11th - that might be part of it.
