and how things have changed, some good some not so. And I realized I never told this story, here, of all places!
High on the positive side, we acquired two amazing friends through a chance meeting on a commuter train just after the 2007 trip.
Scene – Lakeshore Train, morning. Two people (Big D and Scooter) are trying not to play the “This time last week in Disney” game while heading to work. Another passenger is holding a coffee cup with the Mouse on it.:mickey:
Me – Hey – look at the cup.
Big D – We saw that last week at Mousegears, didn’t we?
Me – Yup. Hey, wonder where she got it. Excuse me, m’am?
Stranger – Yes?
Me – We were in Disney last week and we recognize your mug.
Not quite a Stranger now – Wow, we were there last week too! I bought it in Mousegears. Did you guys see the tornado warnings?
Me – Oh, yeah, we were stuck under the Monorail at Epcot while the skies opened…
No Longer a Stranger Anymore (NLASA, for short) – We were on top of the Contemporary having dinner, me and my fiance…(NLASAF)
And so forth. Long and short of it is, a single Mouse mug started a conversation that started a friendship that is hale and hearty and still growing. Thanks, Walt!
