June 25, 1988 – “Disneyland Salutes Benny Goodman” was performed for the first of an 8-day engagement at the Anaheim park. Guest soloists Peanuts Hucko and Louise Tobin as well as alumni of the Benny Goodman orchestra were featured. (Goodman, who passed away in 1986, could be heard in Disney’s 1946 “Make Mine Music.”)
June 25, 1999 – Mo Vaughn, the popular Anaheim Angels 1st baseman, along with boys and girls from the “Gene Autry RBI League,” participated in a ceremony with the Dapper Dans on Main Street in Disneyland. The Dapper Dans lead the audience in “Take Me Out To The Ballgame.”
June 25, 2002 – Actor Patrick Cassidy first stepped into the role of Radames in Disney’s Broadway production of “Aida.”
June 25, 2004 – Disney Channel debuted “Tanner,” the 5th episode of the new series “Phil of the Future.”
June 25, 2005 – Actor John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet in countless Winnie-the-Pooh movies and TV specials, passed away at age 80.
June 25, 2005 – The Disneyland’s Railroad’s newest locomotive No. 5 Ward Kimball officially went into service. It is named for the late Ward Kimball, Disney animator and railroad fan.
June 25, 2006 – Character Dining returned to Disney-MGM Studios at the Hollywood & Vine Restaurant. Guests can dine with JoJo & Goliath, and June & Leo from the Little Einstiens.
June 25, 2006 – The Orange County Star Wars Society held the 2nd Annual Star Wars Fan Day at Disneyland.
June 25, 2006 – Disney Channel Asia aired “High School Musical” for the first time.
June 25, 2008 – Walt Disney Parks & Resorts launched “The Disney Parks Channel” on YouTube.com.
