The Force Is With Us - June 8th

I wake up, slip on some clothes and snake my way through the winding corridors to the BC Marketplace. I can't stand the Nescafe, and the only things listed for sale are espresso and cappuccino. So i ask a CM, "I love good coffee. Is there something else you can get here?" "Yes. I can make you a latte." Coffee problem solved. It's quite good. So i stroll around the property, taking in the beautiful grounds, enjoying the start of the day.

As i circle back around, walking inside past the marketplace, i see 2 boys tumbling on the floor. "Hugo! Pato!" They run up and give me big hugs. I see their family nearby. "How is everyone from Monterey?" They laugh as they recognize me. "Are you here for the character breakfast?" They look puzzled. "No. We are staying here." "But Hugo told me you were at Animal Kingdom Lodge." "My mistake." said the dad. An odd response, but i didn't press it. "We hope they didn't give you too much trouble on the plane." "Not too much." i say.

Back in the room i ask, "Guess who i just saw?" The boys guess right, and we all laugh. Minnie and the boys are slow to get going. But since we're going to Epcot, and less than 5 minutes away, i don't push it. We get through the International Gateway after 10, and in somewhat backwards fashion get fastpasses for Test Track first. This seems to be the boys favorite. We consider getting in the Soarin queue, but there is already an 80 minute wait. "We can get another fastpass at 12. We will come back." So we visit Nemo and Crush at the Living Seas, then get our Soarin fastpasses. We then ride TT and Solo falls in love with a Chevy Truck in the showroom. "Not gonna happen." i tell him.

Now it's time for lunch, and we are looking forward to our first experience at Le Cellier. As we are walking through the gardens, a young couple beside us is discussing what time to try and get in here. "You don't have a reservaton? This is the hardest place to get in at WDW." i say. "I've done this before. Besides, this is Disney. You should give me good news." "I'll let the CM give you the good news" I let him go ahead to the desk. "We have been fully booked for 90 days. I'm sorry." the CM tells him. "You're right!" he says, shrugging his shoulders.

After just a few minutes we are escorted in. We all order the cheese soup and mushroom fillets. All but Indy, who uses the kids menu. I have read so many great things about the food here. And a few comments that it's not as good as people say. Well those folks are dead wrong. The cheese soup with pretzel bread is fabulous. And the mushroom fillet really is to die for. It melts in your mouth leaving a smoky rich aftertaste. I tell our waitress, "Now i know why you have to call 90 days out to get in here." "So you are fans now? It only takes once." she says, smiling.

After one of the best meals ever, we see O Canada. Then we split up. Minnie loves Honey i Shrunk the Audience. "We hate that show." Indy and i say. Solo wants to go back to the room. And Indy wants to try the Kim Possible Adventure. I tell Solo to meet Indy and me back here at 4 for Soarin, and we all go our separate ways. Indy and i do the Kim Possible thing in France. It really adds a new dimension to the pavillions, as you interact with their various elements. It's a hit with Indy. And a good way to get kids more involved with World Showcase. Afterwards, we catch the British Invasion and then all meet up for Soarin.

Now Minnie is getting tired, Indy wants to swim, and i want to hang around the Rose and Crown for more .......British Invasion. That's the story i'm stickin too. Honestly, i could watch these guys all day. Between visits to the R&C, i watch 3 sets and happily sing along to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". For me, this is what a vacation should be.

After my British indulgence i go back to the room. Indy is hungry for a funnel cake. So i take him back to Epcot. We get to the America pavillion, order his treat, and as i am pulling out my wallet the CM says, "Forget it." "What?" "Don't worry about it. On the House" "A free funnel cake? Thanks!" Indy and i are giddy over another freebie. This time a free $6 funnel cake. "It must be THE FORCE." i tell him. "The Force is with us!"

Back at the Beach Club, Indy and i swim until we all are getting hungry. I check the wait at Beaches and Cream. 45 minutes. Perfect. We get cleaned up and have a great meal. It's not Le Cellier, but a good diner style burger and shake is hard to beat. It's now after 9, so we head over to the Studios for the 2nd Fantasmic show. On the boat we experience our first grumpy CM. "If you all are expecting to see Fantasmic tonight, forget about it. At this time of night the stadium will be filled to capacity." Everyone on the boat is expecting to see Fantasmic, so this causes quite a stir. "I have never been turned away from the 2nd show." i tell those around me. "I am fairly certain our captain is wrong." "Well that's encouraging." the people in front of me say.

Sure enough there is plenty of room. And i heard several people comment, as we entered the stadium, "that boat driver should be fired." We got great seats, 5 rows from the bottom. I have never been seated that close to the water before, and enjoyed it very much.

After the show, we go back to our room. For me, this has been a great day. Fab meals, fab freebies, and the fab 4. It just doesn't get any better than that. As i drift off to sleep i can still hear them sing, "She loves you yeah, yeah yeah...."

Isn't it nice not to run from attraction to attraction? You're right: "this is what a vacation should be."
