How much is the tax on a Disney hotel? The total price when booking a room is coming up much higher than the room rate. I wasn't expecting so much. Could it be as much as 16%?

12.5% at most hotels except the All Stars which are in another county at 13.0%..
Also check to see if the disney online quote includes insurance. You have to back that out to compare prices.

I thought it was 13% but I'm not too sure. I know it's just not for Disney all the hotels have at least the 13% tax.

Insurance?

Insurance?
Yeah, in case you have to cancel and want your money back. If you bought the insurance, you might get some back. IF it's covered....

Also, you mentioned the Swan/Dolphin in another thread. They have a resort fee that I believe they surprise you with at check-in.

There's also an extra charge per night if you have more than 2 adults in a room (over age 17).

It's 12.5% at all, but the All Stars are 13.5 because they are in different county.

I never noticed the difference. When we added it up it just didn't seem like there was any more tax than what we imagined there would be.

Clear up the TAX issue: 12.5% for all except All-Stars, 13% (NOT 13.5) for All-Stars.

Resort fees (though unsure of amount) at Swan and Dolphin.

All things considered, we ended up booking Pop Century.

It pays for your complimentary internet and your copy of USA Today.

Doesn't sound complimentary to me if you have to pay for internet and USA Today.
We NEVER stay at a hotel with a resort fee. What a ripoff. Everything should be included in the price you pay for the room.
If you have a crummy mattress and can't be moved to another rooom, can you charge the hotel a bad back fee?

Neither is "free" dining, but it's all the rage!
