crowds last week of Sept?

I have not been at that exact time, but it usually features relatively low crowds, but it will still be rather hot and humid and is during hurricane season.

DH and I were there that week in 07. The crowds were low. I don't think any attraction had more than a 30 minute wait (and if I remember right it was Soarin).

The weather is hot and humid. The high that was week was around 90. It didn't rain too bad but make sure you pack a poncho. We always carry one with us but don't remember needing it as much as in prior trips.

It's a great time to go because the crowds are less and you can see Epcot's Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP is going on that you can also attend.

Relatively low crowds, but will pick up slightly, in Epcot anyway, due to the start of the Food and Wine Festival.

We will be leaving 2 days before the F&WF starts and are expecting 20 to 30 minute waits for rides/attractions AT MOST. This has been the norm for our late-Sept/early-Oct trips over the past 6 years. TS Restaurants will be busy, as this is still part of the 'Free DDP' time frame.

Weather should be gorgeous! It is the end of hurricane season, but that should not be a problem. Temps in the upper 80's to mid 90's with the typical late afternoon shower (all of 15 minutes or so) should be expected.

Should be a truly enjoyable time.

Isn't it the beginning of the hurricane season :confused: Anyway, we will be there at the end of Sept, our past few trips have been end of Aug (with hurricane Charlie, in 2004) Even then the crowds & wait times were very tolerable.

Actually, no. The Atlantic Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with peak activity from mid-August through the end of September. There is a good 'Bell Curve' distribution chart for frequency and strength on the NOAA site that can be found by Googling 'atlantic hurricane season.'

Central Florida, specifically the Orlando area, rarely gets direct hits from a full hurricane, but does get blasted from time to time by the outer rain bands and significant winds.

I'm sure you can get better, and more detailed, information from Strmchsr on these boards.

Whether Walt knew this when he purchased the lands for the WDW complex, or just got extremely lucky, the property is in the perfect position, geographically, to withstand a heavy hurricane season.
