We just purchased at BLT (yipee!!). We have reservations for a 1 bedroom in January using points from our SSR contract. We did that before this purchase and I can not wait for that visit! I have the countdown clock up and running!!

OK now for the BLT lounge information:

It has 77 seats, will be open from 5 pm to midnight and will be only for DVC members staying at BLT using DVC points. They will serve snacks and appetizers. Seating will be on a first come first serve basis. They are hoping that this will work out so that everyone who wants to use it will have the opportunity to do so.

Sounds great! :mickey:

77 seats does not sound much for the number of folks who will be staying there at any one time. I'm sure I will be checking it out when we stay in mid January too!

Wasn't there originally a lounge like this at BWV? I remember it being maybe on the third floor and all the way at the very end of the hall, towards jellyrolls?

Yes, it was on top of Jellyrolls. It's been closed for quite some time.

We toured BLT yesterday, including the Top of the World lounge.

The lounge itself is rather small, but beautifully furnished and the views are outstanding. A huge chandelier dominates the center of the two-story tall room. The balconies that pretty much surround the lounge are very roomy, and equipped with numerous recessed speakers to pipe in the music from Wishes.

Access to the lounge and the exterior balconies is controlled by your KTTW card. A sign is posted near the entrance listing the maximum capacity of the lounge and balcony area combined as 499 people. Personally, I felt like the interior of the lounge would be crowded with more than about 100 people. The guide who escorted us to the lounge advised that entry will only be permitted for DVC members who are staying in BLT at that time. I can only assume that your KTTW will be coded to limit access.

Folks who are hesitant about the lakeview villas need not fret. The views on that side are equally pleasant. Epcot (think "Illuminations") is clearly visible, and even the views toward the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge are great.

We also toured one of the Grand Villas, this one with a lake view. WOW ! Very spacious, well laid out, beautiful furnishings, a HUGE two-story glass wall, and an actual laundry ROOM that is bigger than the entire kitchen in my home. One little oddity that we spotted; the master bathroom includes a recessed flat-panel TV, but it's on a wall where it's really only visible when one is - - ahem - - seated upon the throne. If you're soaking in the Jacuzzi tub with your back against the sloped wall, the TV is not visible without some major twisting and turning.

We were not able to tour the lobby area; we had to stay above the floor where the walkway from the Contemporary enters the building - - the 4th floor. And that raises a little more confusion; rooms on the 4th floor were numbered in the 7000 series, and the Grand Villa on the 14th floor was numbered in the 8000 series. I guess there's some form of logic somewhere in there.

All in all, the resort is beautiful, spacious, nicely decorated, and the location couldn't be better.

Thank you for the first hand report. It really does sound beautiful. Is there seating on the balcony? Is it set up so that people can have their snacks out on the balcony? :mickey:

As of yesterday, there were no seats on the balconies, and I'm not sure what the plans are. There are solid walls about 4' high all around the balconies, so unless any future seating is roughly bar stool height, the view won't be very good.

Thanks - I was hoping it would be set up with some seating like the balcony on the 4th floor of the tower (a really nice place to watch the fireworks!). With the limited entry I am just hoping to be able to get in to view Wishes from anywhere "up there". :mickey:

GREAT THREAD!

We are staying in the Grand Villa Lake View the week of Christmas and just reading this thread is getting me excited! Didn't even consider the Illuminations thing- that will be awesome!

I am concerned about the 1st come 1st serve at the lounge...Everyone is going to want to see the fireworks of course, so is it going to become a thing where you have to get in line at 4pm and hang in the lounge for 4 hours to be guaranteed a spot? Of course, only 1/2 of BLT will be there- the 1/2 that DOESN'T have the view from their room!
I feel like it should be a reservation thing- I heard that was originally what they were going to do. So there was no stress of wondering when to get there, etc...
