Are there any airlines that don't charge you for one piece of checked luggage? So disappointed that Alaska Airlines is now charging for even one checked bag per person.

I know that Airtran does charge for first piece of luggage. I believe that Southwest also just announced that they are going to be charging. I think most of the major airlines do charge for checked luggage.

Southwest only charges for oversize/overweight or >2 bags per person.

Delta/Northwest, Continental, United charge fees for the first bag.
US Air is just starting -it depends on when you booked your ticket and date of travel at this point.

Just looked at their website, and Jetblue is still not charging for the first checked bag. Starting on June 2nd, they did raise their fee to $30 from $20 for the second checked bag, however.

Delta now charges.

A lot of their fares have dropped, so they look attractive when comparing to other carries, but then you get charged for a check bag, making the cost of the flight the same as anywhere else (unless you only have a carry-on).

Absolutely! Early March is "ancient history". :old:

Airline policies seem to change virtually every week, at least over the past year or so.
