Disney buys Kaboose.com, others for $18 mln
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Walt Disney Co.'s interactive unit said Monday it had acquired the assets of Kaboose Inc., including Kaboose.com, BabyZone.com, AmazingMoms.com and ParentZone.com, for $18 million.
The Web sites will join a group of related Disney sites, such as DisneyFamily.com, in a "Mom and Family" portfolio run by Disney Online Vice President Emily Smith, the company said.
The new portfolio of sites will reach nearly one in five mothers online, it said.
Kaboose.com and BabyZone.com will maintain their distinctiveness but be incorporated in portfolio-wide content and promotions.
Disney shares rose 75 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $24.97 on Monday afternoon.
