Yesterday, I started talking about our trip to OKW and WDW. The trip there and back was an adventure, as Bilbo would say, but the once in our resort, a great time was had by all.

We arrived at Old Key West on a beautiful Friday afternoon. It really is a beautiful resort. We were in Building 33 on the second floor in a two-bedroom villa which allowed just about everyone to have their own bed. No one wanted to sleep in the second queen bed in the room with our daughter and her boyfriend. Hmm.

After unpacking and changing, we headed off to Fort Wilderness for the Hoop De Doo Review. A great time was had by all, as usual. The food was great, the entertainment as corny as ever and our daughter’s boyfriend, Vince, only stopped laughing to eat. Our niece Patricia was celebrating her 23rd birthday with this dinner. She had never been to HdD, either, so we made a big fuss over her.

After dinner, we were all too tired to go to any of the parks so we headed back to the resort for a quick dip in the pool and maybe a hottub for some of us who were sore from the trip. Bad luck. We headed to the smaller pool on Old Turtle Pond Road, but the hot tub was closed. Bummer. The pool itself was open, so in we went. Then back to the rooms for a quick sleep and off to DHS for the day.

DHS was great! We did lots of rides and attractions but were still too tired to tackle the long lines at Toy Story Mania, and no one was too interested in tackling ToT or RnRC today. Maybe next time. Hey, did you know there really is a key under the mat at Muppets 3D Adventure?

As always, when at Stunt Car Spectacular, my wife was bitten on the foot by some unknown bug. This is an annual rite that we seem destined to go through. We had dinner at Pizza Planet. It was alright, not great, but it gave us the energy to carry on for the rest of the evening.

After returning to the hotel, we decided to go for another swim. Well, bad luck or timing seems to follow us around. Now the pool on Old Turtle Pond Road is closed, so we all hiked over to the main pool for a hot tub and quick dip. It was great fun. But not for long, because we have to get up early for our reservations for breakfast at Crystal Palace the next morning.

May 10 breaks and, as usual, there is not a cloud in the sky. MK is very busy today. It is Mother’s Day after all. We get to Crystal Palace just in time for our reservation. We didn’t even have time for my usual stand-in-the-middle-of-Town-Square-and-sigh moment. At the podium they couldn’t find our reservation. Turns out they had made a mistake and had it for May 9. They still got us in, though and we had a great meal and lots of time with each character. The amount of full-body laughing coming from my daughter and her boyfriend was really heart warming. The rest of the day was spent riding our favourite rides and seeing favourite attractions and introducing them to new eyes.

We had dinner at Columbia House for the first time ever. It was quite good for a counter service meal. We stayed for Wishes and some of the Extra Magic Hours, then headed back to OKW for some rest, because the next day will be spent at EPCOT and a big surprise for my wife!
