Hammons Rainy Trip Part 1 Days 1-3

Cast: DH and I. One year anniversary extraordinaire.

Tried to get some decent rest the night before. :sheep: Failed at that. Caught the plane from DAY to MCO at 8 AM. Landed at 10 AM. Was a good flight.

Arrived at the resort via DME around 1130 AM. Went ahead and got my mug for the trip. Checked into our room, which was very clean and stocked with towels. We requested a corner room for the nice double windows, and we got it. Our room 5341 was extremely close to the laundry and the food court. Like, REALLY close. This will come in handy later when we start getting an overabundance of rain.

We headed out to the parks. First stop: DHS. After retrieving our Happy Anniversary pins and my Disney Rewards card from guest relations we made our way to the Great Movie Ride. After that we went to ABC Commissary to get a quick bite to eat for lunch. They replaced the Cuban sandwich with a new Chicken sandwich which was pretty decent.

After that we headed off to the American Idol. It’s always great to be able to do something new. Our show only had two guests instead of three but we really enjoyed the experience. The pre-show host was really funny and the judges were great. We thought it was a neat experience but I really can’t believe that they get enough people to volunteer for each show throughout the day??

Skip ahead a couple of hours we made our way to Epcot. Rode DH’s favorite Spaceship Earth first.

For dinner that night we had Biergarten. For the past few years I have always wanted to try this place and we finally got to this year. We’ve always read mixed reviews but we loved it. We sat with a great group of people and the entertainment started right when we sat down with our food. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! :beer:

The next morning, we had the beignets. Made nice and fresh.

First park for the day: Magic Kingdom (due to EMH). I was surprised to see how much stuff wasn’t open early in the morning but we did get to ride BTMR :coaster: with zero wait and we got some pics. First ride was Jungle Cruise after Adventureland opened at 0900.

Other memorable moments: We finally rode the Liberty Bell. We were disappointed that Space Mountain, Transit ride (?), AND Hall of Presidents were all closed.

For lunch we had Harbour House for the first time. I got the Hummus and DH got the tuna. We loved it! Although I didn’t know it came with chips. I accidentally got a side of fries also.

After MK for the morning, we took the monorail over to Polynesian to get a monorail t-shirt and a couple of cocktails. We loved the resort and explored. This will be where we stay at next! :marg:

That night we made our way to DHS. Did the animation studio, saw the Up! Artwork. Did you know they are making a Toy Story 3? I approve!

We had FP for the tower, that is when the dreaded rain started …

Went to Raglan Road that night. We always make it back to this place with or without reservations.

Started the next day out at AK. Rode all of our favorites, saved the trails for another day.

That evening we went over to EPCOT for a while. We got into Tokyo Dining without reservations – and boy was it worth it! I had the Bento Box and DH had the shrimp tempura. We had sushi for appetizer.

We decided to stay around for the fireworks that night. We walked around the showcase to look for the best available area that wasn’t too packed. Halfway through the show it suddenly became apparent that we picked the worst possible area (we never had good luck with Illuminations). In the words of DH -- “I never thought I would have to break up a fist fight at Disney World.” Apparently a few women standing nearby were speaking rather loudly a few unspeakables. :rant: A lady nearby got HIGHLY offended and before you knew it there was a full-blown fist fight. DH just happened to be standing right next to them. AWKWARDDD. Anyways, enough about that. Tune in next time for Hammons Rainy Disney Trip Part 2!

I liked the fact that you could go around the corner and go down the stairs right to the food court, gift shop, lobby and out to the bus. Also, it was very quiet at POFQ.:thumbsup:

We're back home now! But we had a view of the courtyard on the side of the stairs. Far from the elevator but just a quick crossing across the street to the pool AND the food court. I loved where we were. Hope you get some sun on your trip!

DH loves to take pictures of foods. He has his own website that he does reviews on and dining is one of the things we enjoy most about our trips so why not.

A lady we sat with at Biergarten asked us right before they left what he does with the photos of food. I guess it's kind of weird to others.
