I just stopped by our mall and saw that The Disney Store is closed/gone....no one I talked to seemed to know if Disney is getting rid of their stores at the malls or if this particular location was closed for another reason.

Anyone know???

That is interesting. About a month ago I was in our Disney Store (A mall in Northern CA) and the store employees were talking about the D23 magazine. They were joking that they would be closed by the time the next issue comes out. I thought they were just teasing but it sounds like they were serious.

It was announced a while back that stores would be closed when Disney took back control over the stores: http://www.intercot.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=132517&highlight=disney+stores+closing

There are several other threads on closings too.

If you are refering the sudden closing of the Bridgewater Commons Disney Store, the buzz that I heard from the mall was that there was a break-down in lease negotiations. Bridgewater management is trying to create another "Short Hills Mall" type environment, which means "out" with typical mall stores and "in" with exclusive boutiques. It's like a macrocosm of what they did to the food court ???!? Yucky stuff - and 1/4 the original choices.
Personally, I skip the BWC and shop at Menlo Park Mall or Woodbridge Mall both of which still have Disney Stores :mickey:, last time I checked.

Our Disney Store closed almost a year ago. Now the nearest one is over 350 miles away. :sob:

It really makes me appreciate when I travel to a place that has one. It's always on my list of places to go (if I can).

ours has been closed for about 2 years now (the closest one anyway) now the only one in the Greater Pgh area is at South Hills Village Mall and that is a pretty far drive for us. Shopping online and paying for shipping just doesn't do it for me. I loved the disney store and they always had good sales. I keep hoping and praying that one day they will bring one back at least somewhere in the vicinity.

Mine is still open, but the ones that are closed will reopen once Disney takes them back over right? I want to work there, and I will finally be able to next year. If they close, do you think they will be open by then??

Our nearest one closed before Christmas, but we have had 2 Disney Outlet stores open last year and they seem to be doing well....

The only Disney Store left in our area that I know of is in the Mall Of America.

Yes, Disney contracted their stores last year. Usually there ends up being just one store in an area. However, the fact they are closing isn't really that bad of a thing. To see what the stores are and compare them to the World of Disney in NYC, WDW or DL makes one understand where the problem lies.

Ours closed in Burlington, MA. I just went there to get my niece her Disney dollars. Now I must go to the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, which is closer to my house anyways. I only have 14 days, I'd better hurry.:bolt:

We still have one at the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough, MA. I hope they don't close that one too! And it's still the original store, not the generic yucky atmosphere store either.

One Disney Store in a mall (Esplanade) near us closed almost a year ago, but one in another mall (Lakeside) is still open. I think there's still one in the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge. There isn't enough "adult" stuff in the stores now (tshirts, etc).

One of the malls in our area still had a Disney store, or at least it was still there six months ago. I used to love shopping in the Disney stores but over the years there was less and less adult merchandise so basically stopped going into the stores in the malls. I just do all my shopping at Disney World or Land when we are lucky enough to go.
