I have a hard time too. I always say Disney MGM then pause and say I mean DHS. Disney MGM just seemed to roll off the tongue a lot easier too!! That being said I am slowly getting used to it ;)

It's taken me a while, but, I'm now mostly calling it Studios or Hollywood studios.

I've started calling it DHS. but I used to say everything as it was: for example, I used to say Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Now I call it MK. I love the IM world. LOL

Nope, no problem here. I'm used to typing DHS, and I just call it the Studios (I don't even think MGM anymore).

we were there last year shortly after the name change and it was hard then but we've moved on now. We refer to it as 'the studios'. :mickey:

No slips here, I will always call it MGM. I have to think for a second to remember what they call it now.

I still slip now and then, but I am trying to conform. DW however refuses to stop saying MGM , thus making it very difficult to keep it straight in my head. Either way, it spells M-A-G-I-C!

:ditto: It has always been MGM to me And WILL always be MGM. I don't care what Disney changes it's name to. LOL. I've tried to call it dhs for the sake of being correct but I can't do it. So I will always refer to it as MGM

I still say MGM when I'm not thinking. but I think I'll try to call it studios. I think most of Disney calls it Studios, because the abbreviation is ST

I have referred to it by both names on a regular basis since the name change. In my defence when I last went it was still MGM.

For all I know you could just be saying DHS to try and trick me when it is still really MGM. So that when I next go I will be looking for DHS and won't be able to find it. I'm onto you...:D

nope...had no trouble dropping MGM from the title...in fact using another film company's name at a disney theme park always seemed a bit odd to me.

On the boards and to experienced Disney goers I have transitioned to DHS easy but to family and friends that haven't been lately I say DHS well MGM because they all think there's a new park. I tried saying the studios and there just as confussed.

I think maybe my biggest problem her is that MGM roles off your tongue so fast and easily, where Hollywood studios has drunken, tongue twister written all over it. Maybe I am just linguistically lazy.?? Some day I will completely conform.

I still have trouble saying Hollywood Studios vs. MGM. Side note, the first year it opened my BF(now husband) and I were in disney for almost two weeks with his sister and her husband. Can you believe that they did not want to go to MGM. They had no interest. Unbelievable! That was the last time we travelled with family. We have such different tastes in regards to parks, food, everything. It is just better for us to go ourselves. We have now gone back since with our children and have enjoyed MGM , oops, DHS.

I still slip and call it MGM, but that's usually so I don't confuse people who have known it as MGM...

heck I still say:
Epcot Center and Polynesian Village :mickey:

I always have trouble with these name changes and some I never get right. Half the time it's MGM and half the time its Hollywood Studios. It's the same way with TTA. I still think Wedway People Mover half the time. I also find myself just using the abbreviations when I talk and I always do when I type (it helps that it drives my sister crazy but she's slowly learning them!).

Since coming back to this site recently to prepare for a future WDW trip, I learned of the name change. I cant consider it anything other than MGM although once I visit it under the new name it might be easier to make the switch.

Just wondering, on the Disney website it has the photo with the Park entrance on it, which still shows MGM Studios...has that been changed? Does it now bare the new Hollywood Studios' name? Just curious:mickey:

At first I said it would always be MGM, which it is, but I find myself slowly conforming to the wills of Disney......I suppose it's like Dixie Landings to Port Orleans ...... same thing....it's Port Orleans to me .....:mickey:

Funny topic. My biggest problem is recognizing the DHS acronym when I see it... For some reason whenever I see "DHS" my mind thinks "Disney High School Musical"!! It is very annoying. I need to have my neural pathways reprogrammed or something!!

Its worse for us, as I spent four years at "DHS" as did / will most of my family. "DHS" is what all call our local High School. If I ever think past that . . . I come up with "Disney High School " . . . so, must be musical?

In our home, I still say MGM (as well as EPCOT center) - probably always will. My children say "the old MGM that is now Disney Hollywood Studios" -- EVERY time, never one or the other . . .

On occasion, I'll catch myself still calling it "MGM", but I typically call it "Hollywood Studios" or "The Studios" now. I think it's because I prefer the new name. It fits better with the overall park than "MGM" ever did.

Maybe it's because I'm a relative newbie, but I have always referred to that park as 'the Studios,' whereas that place on the other side of Orlando is simply Universal.
