Apr. 3, 1983 – The “Yong Feng Shangdian” shopping Gallery opened in the China Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot.
Apr. 3, 1985 – The Brown Derby Restaurant closed on Vine Street in Hollywood after 57 years. (Disney would later build a Brown Derby at Disney-MGM Studios.
Apr. 3, 1992 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “Straight Talk,” starring Dolly Parton, James Woods, Griffen Dunne, and Michael Madsen, was released.
Apr. 3, 1994 – Disney CEO Frank Wells was killed in a helicopter crash on a skiing trip in Nevada. Wells’ death would spark the breakup between Jeffery Katzenberg and Micahel Eisner and lead to the creation of Dreamworks SKG. A building would be constructed at The Walt Disney Studios in Wells’ memory.

Apr. 3, 2007 – Anneliese van der Pol, a star of the Disney Channel hit “That’s So Raven,” made her Broadway debut as Belle in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” She is the 17th and final actress to play the role on Broadway as the show will close July 29, 2007 to make room for the new production of “The Little Mermaid.”
