For those of you that have a DSLR camera, do you do the photopass also?

I just got a Rebel XS and a 300mm lens and me and my wife were debating about doing photopass this year now.

Just curious what you guys think.

I still will- just got one in between trips. This way I am able to get all of us in picture instead of everyone but me or my DH. Plus this way I don't need to always take a picture with the characters. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Believe it or not the photopass photograghers will use your camara as well. I just got mine before the trip so I carried my digital with me to give to the photopass guys and one asked why I didn't want the picture with my other camara and I thought it wasn't allowed. He said as long as you set the focus they will snap the picture and do some minor focusing.

At the P&P Party last year, the photopass person took our photo with Jack Sparrow, then just took my camera and took a couple more with it without my asking! Needless to say, they turned out just as good but without the Disney border. (We bought those anyway!) It just kind of surprised it that he would do that!:cloud9:

I definitely still would. It's a great way to have everyone in the picture. I find myself relying on the Photopass photographers to take more of the people pictures, leaving me freer to take pictures of Disney itself!

To answer the PP question - Photopass is a service that Disney provides by having special Photographers in the park that will take your photo for you - ie in order to get everyone in the pictures. You can't miss them they have big cameras and vests on. There are also some special pictures that they take thorughout the park at certain times - like in the MK if you ask for the Tink picture they will take your picture with your hands cupped in front of you while you are looking at them with a surprised look on your face. when you view the picture at the parks later that day or once you are home they will put tink in your hands. there is one at AK with simba and I think stitch at the studios. there are a bunch of newer ones too, one at soarin I believe. when you get home you can add borders and autographs crop them ect and then order prints (cheapest is a 4x6 or 5x7 which is 12.95. I think the best bet is to preorder the cd for 99.00 (at last check this was the price) then you get the copyrights and you can take it to wal mart or wherever and print a 4x6 for 9cents. You usually get some pretty good shots and for the price of Disney's prints if you got 12 or 13 pictures that you would want, the CD is the better bet.

and oh for the OP yes I would still do it. You can also uploan your own photos to the disneyphotopass website so that they can be used in a photobook or something along those lines,

I was kind of thinking that we'd end up doing the photopass and using our camera. I just wanted to see if anyone had just used the camera and if they were happy with the shots or if they wish'd they had done the photopass as well.

you can always have the Photopass Photographer do both take the picture with theirs and with yours. you can view the photos and see what you like if you don't like them or have the same shot on your own camera you are under no obligation to buy. Even if you preorder the photopass and then decide you don't like the pictures they will refund your money. Only thing is you won't get the imposed images like tink ect in your pics but I guess you could always try doing that on your own!!

Since you're not obligated to buy anything, I would still do the PhotoPass too. Sounds like you've gotten an awesome camera! :)

I think we've decided to do the photopass also. I think it was just a quick idea to maybe save a hundred dollars at first, but last year we did the photopass and we loved being able to have the cast members take our pictures so we were both in the photos. This time it will be us and two of our children.

Oh and we love the camera. In less than a week I'd say we shot at least a thousand pictures (and I am probably rounding low haha). I will post some pictures soon. We went to a garden and flowers exhibit on Sunday and I was able to find a little bit of Disney all the way in Indiana :)

I use a D40 (and if I bothered to bring it along) D300.

We still use Photopass. :mickey:

Some of the photopass CM's are some of our favorite people!

ETA- That sounds a little harsh about the D300. It is an amazing camera, obviously. I rarely bring it with me, what with having to tote around 2 kiddos and all their stuff.

The 300 looks like a beast to lug around. The D40 looks very comparable to what I've got.
