We were thinking of going straight to Toontown on the day we arrive. We will probably not be there at MK until 3 or so. Is it usually really crowded that tiem of day? Are there long lines for characters? We will be going end of April.

I find Toontown is very crowded in the afternoon. End of April will be a busy time. I would try to do Toontown first thing to get it out of the way

Toontown is our starting place each visit, we take the Train from Mainstreet to Toontown. Admittedly we do it earlier in the day than that and it isn't overly crowded.

It isn't a case of getting it out of the way for us, it is just tradition to start there. Barnstormer is also a great place to start the rollercoasters.
