I am shocked that WDW doesn't have webcams in some areas of the parks so that we can view while we are not there. Any idea why they have not done this?

it would cost them money.

They used to, however for security reasons after 9/11 they were shut down. To the extent of my knowledge they were never redeployed.

Check out eyesonears or ustreamtv. There people set-up their own web cam at there resort. Some people take them in the parks.

There used to be a weather cam that looked towards Epcot from the Beach Club Resort area. I don't know if it's still live or not.

The website still exists, although it has a tendancy to go black for periods of time (read that as weeks). It used to be oriented toward the YC resort with EPCOT-SE in the distance. Lately, it has been oriented to show the Dophin resort. You can see it at:

Yep. I used to get such joy out of logging on & looking at the castle after our May '00 trip!

Me too. I loved looking at those cameras. If you looked at MK a 3:00pm you could see the parade on Main Street which was interesting.

Anybody know why they would have been considered a security risk? The definition wasn't exactly high quality.

wish they'd bring them back. I end up listening to live365 all the time for music from the parks

I remember the camera over main street - I know they had it as far back as 1996 as that is when I started to check out the WDW website...which has come a long way in the past 13 years! I miss the camera too and taking a live glace at Main Street USA!

I want to say there was also one at MGM...am I right?

I used to look at the Main Street web cam several times a day. It was always fun to catch it when the parade was going on or some other special event. I still have a couple of time lapse movies from that camera on my computer.

I too heard they were taken down for security reasons, but wouldn't it be a great marketing tool?

There was/is a webcam at the Swan & Dolphin that looks over the back of Epcot, towards the ball. But it does go black at times.
