I planned a trip for the family (DH, DD age 6 1/2 and DD age 3) for May 31 - June 5, 2009. Reservations were made in November 2008. Found out 3 weeks after made ressie that we were expecting again. I will be 30 weeks preggo while in Disney. I'm now second guessing going on the trip due to being that far along and the crowds/heat of Orlando in June. Anyone else been to Disney while in their 3rd trimester? Never been to Disney in late May/early June. Are the crowds and heat bearable? Was it worth it to still go or would you suggest cancelling the trip and planning it for next year? Thanks in advance for your opinions! :mickey:

If you plan on air travel you may have a problem. Some airlines might require permission from your ob/gyn to travel that late.

I personally wouldn't do it. I would be afraid that I would have to cancel at the last minute and waste a lot of money.

I have been to WDW while pregnant, but only just into my 2nd trimester. It was okay, but very tiring with swollen feet at the end of hot days.

I would talk to my dr. first.

I would add trip insurance to your package...unless this is considered pre-existing condition.

Thanks. We are actually planning on driving down from KY. Will do KY to GA in a day and spend the night in Valdosta, then drive the remaining 3ish hours the next morning to WDW. Would actually rather fly, but don't have the extra $ now.
At least this trip was going to be a surprise, so if we do decide to cancel, the kids won't be disappointed (even though I really will!! ).

Been there, done that. I was 7 months pregnant with second DS in July (talk about hot!). I am a huge Disney fan and will never pass up an opportunity to go, but I was just plain miserable. I will say, that the CM's did notice how awful I felt and several times took pity on me. I remember standing in line for The Lion King at AK and a CM came up to me and escorted me to a shady seat near a fan and told me to wait until the theatre had filled then go sit with my family. That helped tremendously, especially when your feet are swollen. I think most will try to accomodate you if possible. Drink lots of water, try not to do everything, and keep a slow pace. I did survive and my DS loves Disney World, probably from being exposed at such an early age!:baby:

I hate to give you this answer, but I'm speaking as a nurse and a mom. I wouldn't go. I am a complete disney fanatic, but I think at 30 weeks it would be a very difficult trip for you. Riding in the car that long isn't good for your circulation or your back. The weather in Florida that time of year is HOT. :( At 30 weeks you could possibly go into labor, especially with your third child. You might also just be feeling yucky which often happens in the third trimester. I would personally wait until after the baby is born, maybe around Christmas time would be fun for your family and then you can all enjoy it more. If you do go, plan on it being a RELAXING vacation. I'm talking sitting by the pool most of the time and sipping on smoothies:thumbsup:

I've been 30 weeks preggo twice, and I've been to Disney in June. I don't know if there's enough money in the world that would make me wanna combine the two. But that's me and you may be totally different. Congratulations on the upcoming baby !!!!!!

Thanks for your opinions everyone! I really want to go (our last family of 4 trip) but fear the heat and crowds. I have an OB appt on March 5 and will have another appt early April. I'm going to talk to the OB about it. I have until April 16th to cancel and get my $ back, so maybe I'll have a better feeling about it when it gets a little closer. I just SO hate to pass up a trip to see the Mouse and friends! :mickey:
I had already planned to have a much slower paced vacation with "do nothing" days every other day (we'll be there a total of 6 days)...guess I'll wait until the last minute and see how I'm feeling then (and have my OB's approval too).
You guys are the best! Thanks for taking time to "talk" it out with me!! :number1:

My biggest concern would be going into labor while in WDW. My SIL was supposed to keep one of our nephews while the rest of the family went to WDW. She was around 31 weeks at the time of the trip. Sure enough the day before the trip her water bag broke and she ended up staying in the hopsital until she delivered 4 weeks later. My nephew ended up going with his family to WDW since there was no one to watch him. If you do choose to go please make sure you stay hydrated. Getting dehydrated, especially at that point in your pregnancy, can cause you to go into labor. I would never want to be in WDW in the summer and 30 weeks pregnant. Its just not worth it for me. I'd much rather take a trip in the fall or winter with the new addition to our family. Good luck with your decision.

Kinda off topic....

But last March I saw a woman who was so pregnant, I think see gave birth while on Peter Pan's Flight. :D

I wasn't quite to my third. We had rezzies and I found out I was pregant with my third, we were there when I was six months pregant in July as well. It was hot...and hot but other than a few missed rollercoasters there is still much fun to be had at Disney. My recommendations it just to take it easy, get one of those hankerchief with the beads that you immerse in water and tie it around your neck, a lifesave and get a misting fan to carry with you, they are all over the place in the summer, you can't miss them. They will help with the heat, I over heated very easily when I was pregnant and if it turns out to be rough walking all over creation being in your third trimester I would look into renting a scooter, that might save a lot of stress on your body.

Talk with your OB provider. If it is decided it is okay, get a copy of your prenatal records (just in case). Make sure you rest when you are tired. The Baby Care Centers are a good place to recharge your batteries. On the car ride to and from, make sure you have plenty of stops where you can get out and walk around (stretch your legs, get your blood circulating, etc.). Have fun, but don't over do it. Know your limits.

I'll be 6 months pregnant when we go in August so all the tips from this thread are very helpful. Keep them coming!

First, congrats on your new addition! At least, one way or another, they're a Disney fan in the making! :mickey:

I have been to WDW once, and it was the first week of June last year. I tried to keep up with my water intake and let it slide, and I suffered for it - I spent an afternoon sick at EPCOT. I have never been pregnant myself, but I'm sure the water need is even greater. I would just say keep the water bottle out, and be drinking every time you're not on a ride.

Also, Florida summers mean growing plants and mold - which I discovered I have an allergy to. If you've never been in the summer or don't live in a similar climate, it's something to think about.

To end, if you do get to go, we arrive the 31st of May as well! :number1:

I went to Disney last year the third week in May while pregnant and it wasn't really that hot yet. I was 20 weeks pregnant and had a great time. Now I know there is a big difference between 20 and 30 weeks pregnant but only you know how your body feels and you will be able to make the decision :) There are plenty of places to relax and cool off and the one good thing about that time of year is that not all schools have let out for summer break yet. I say wait a little bit longer before making a decision and see how the pregnancy treats you.
