We are thinking of taking a long weekend in the Tampa area. We would actually fly into the smaller airport, which, I think, is St. Pete/Clearwater via Allegiant Air. What beach area is nicest in this area?

Also, how is Busch Gardens? Would like to trek to MK for a day, but, with having limited time, not sure if we should. I did mapquest and it showed 1 hr 48 min, one way. Also, DS stated he is getting too old for :mickey:, :(

Busch Gardens Africa is a beautiful park. If you're into real thrilling rollercoasters, it a great park to go to, as their collection is fantastic.

The overall park is filled with tremendous gardens, and tons of animals. It really is a not miss park if you're in the area. Lots to do, even if you're not into thrill rides.

Just be warned that the area around the park is a little sketchy.

Fort Desoto Park has some really nice beaches. We were there over New Year's 07-08 and saw dolphins swimming in the water off the beach we were at! Also - it didn't feel very crowded there at all. But beware of the seagulls - they will get any food/drink you leave sitting around.
