Jan. 15, 1998 - Part of Sega at Innoventions closed and the rest closed about a week later.
Jan. 15, 1999 - Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort opened in WDW with the sections “Mighty Ducks” and “101 Dalmatians.”
Jan. 15, 2001 – The Disney Cruise Line brought a bit of Castaway Cay to Times Square in your New York City to get the attention of Manhattanites to take a break from the cold.
Jan. 15, 2002 - Disney released “The Jungle Book”; “Adventures of Huck Finn”; and “Tron” on DVD.
Jan. 15, 2002 - Jury selection began in the trail of Bismark Rodriquez who was accused of holding 2 people hostage at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort in June of 2000.
Jan. 15, 2004 – Actor Johnny Depp was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Jan. 15, 2005 – Actress Ruth Warwick, who portrayed Sally in Disney’s 1946 “Song of the South,” passed away at age 88 in New York. (Known for her performance in the classic 1941 film Citizen Kane, Warwick was also a fixture on the ABC-TV soap opera “All My Children.”)
Jan. 15, 2005 – This date marks “Walk In and Win Week” at Who Wants to Be a Millionaire—Play It! At Disney-MGM Studios. Any audience member who makes it to the Heat Seat will be playing for $1 million dollars.
Jan. 15, 2005 – The Disney animated TV series “W.I.T.C.H.” began airing on ABC Family.
Jan. 15, 2007 – The Disney/Pixar film “Cars” won Best Animated Feature Film at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards. It is the first ever given in the new category of Best Animated Feature. John Lasseter accepted the award.
