DAY 1, Dec. 6th: The morning started off with Christy freaking out fearing that we would be late getting to the Alex. Airport. While she tapped her feet (hard enough to rock the van) John tried to speed up and make sure we got there on time. We made the flight with minutes to spare. So here’s the ironic part – after all of that rushing, our connecting flight from Houston to Honolulu was delayed due to “mechanical issues”! All of that stress and worry wasted! So as Christy made early journal entries, John found an 8 foot customized Fender Guitar to drool over…

-During the Flight- Oh how GREAT it is to fly Business First Class! The seats are plenty big enough for our extra large hinnies, they both recline back and have foot rest that come up – and the 4 course meals – WOW! We began with salmon wrapped around a creamy cheese and topped with caviar, then a pear/pecan salad, then the main course; John had chicken in a sauce with tomato & cranberry and Christy had and artichoke pasta dish. Dessert was raspberry cheesecake. John decided to partake of 3 glasses of white wine and we toasted each other with free Champaign! We both watched the “Mummy 3” and drifted off to sleep for about 4 or 5 hours, hoping to be good and rested for when we landed – let the party begin!

We are in Hawaii!!!! The view upon landing (see pictures) was amazing! From the airport we took the shuttle to the rental car where we picked up the classic “fun in the sun car” – a convertible Sebring! The drive to the resort was a slow and meandering trek (even on H1 nobody seems to be in a hurry, after all we are on Island Time now!) Our hotel, the Ilihani Resort, is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The bathroom alone is bigger than our entire kitchen! And our lanai overlooks the mountains and an area where we can see construction beginning for the Disney Vacation Club Resort! After unpacking we decided to don our swimsuits and hit the beach/lagoon. Our first adventure was to walk along a lava rock shoreline and to come around a bend to see a view that took our breaths away! Waves crashing, smoky hazy mountains off in the distance and swaying palm trees behind us. After taking some pictures we went back to the Ko Olina lagoon for a swim. John jumped right in and we both discovered that Christy is a baby where cold water is involved (anything colder than our Jacuzzi is not warm enough for her!) After about 15 to 20 minutes of Christy's whining we got out and saw a beautiful sight. We watched the sunset and disappear into the Pacific Ocean – AMAZING! We ended our night by showering and putting on decent clothes and heading down for a wonderful dinner. It was a seafood buffet that was filled with specialty and local dishes fit for a celebrity. We drank some local Kona brewed beer and finished with chocolate dipped fruits. Upstairs and to bed early (since our body clocks were still off) so we can adventure more tomorrow!
