In another example of discounting to combat a worsening recession, Disney Cruise Line has launched a promotion where kids 12 and under can sail for free during some three-night voyages this winter and spring.

Disney says the offer is valid for "most" three-night sailings of the Disney Wonder from Jan. 22 to May 28. The company says the package covers a wide range of cabin categories, all the way from deluxe family suites to standard inside rooms. Eligible kids must be accompanied by two full-fare-paying guests in the same stateroom.

Guests will still be responsible for paying taxes and fees on their child's sailing. Disney says there are only "a limited number" of rooms available under the sail-free offer.

"At Disney Cruise Line we pride ourselves on offering a vacation that caters to the individual needs of every member of the family," Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin said in a written statement. "This special offer is a great value -- perfect for families that have never experienced the magic of Disney at sea, or those who want to come back to create new memories."
