We just got back from an action packed week at Disney. We stayed at the POFQ and had a great time. If I can answer any questions, let me know.

I know POFQ is a smaller resort and that is a plus as there is one bus stop. Were you able to get in the pool? It is a smaller pool and the water level is more for small children, but would older teens enjoy this pool? Also, how was the food court? We usually stay at the sister resort, POR, and have not been to POFQ in years, as my sons are bigger now. Also, are the rooms in good shape? I know they, too, have the boats to Downtown Disney and that is alway nice. I just did not know if my teenage sons would enjoy this resort now that they are not little kids.

We are considering staying at POR next year, but I've heard some horror stories about the bus service there. I've heard that POFQ is the first stop coming in and going out, and that the buses are really crowded because that one bus swings by both POR and POFQ. True? Any thoughts about the bus service in general, and whether it might be better for us to stay at POFQ for that reason?

POFQ is a quality resort. The rooms are in good shape. The appeal of the resort is not limited to senior citizens and small children. The food court may be the best at WDW for breakfast- beignets and a full menu.

I was pleasantly surprised by the bus service. Each morning, the buses went directly to the parks without stopping at POR and its 4 stops.
At night, POFQ was usually the first stop, however there were a few nights where it was the last stop.

This is a full sized pool with a cool water slide (which is more kiddie than teenaged) and I have seen all ages enjoy it! We have never had a problem securing chairs around it, or having plenty of room to swim around in it.

We prefer the food court at POFQ to the POR food court (for quality and offerings).

The pool was pretty much empty the whole time I was there. Last week was pretty chilly in the mornings and evenings. I actually saw people in the hot tub at 6am. Each morning I would stagger into the food court after 5 1/2 hours of sleep for coffee and quiet time and I would pass those bright individuals on there way to the tub. Oh well, to each there own. The busses were not bad at all. POFQ pretty much had their own bus to each of the parks. The only time we stopped somewhere else other than our destination was on our way to AK we dropped off 3 people at Blizzard Beach. Had to wait 35 minutes on Saturday to get to MK but this was like 7:45am. I was pretty bummed from the wait, but once in the MK, we were selected by a cast member for a "Million Dream" opportunity. We were personally escorted by a cast member throughout Fantasy Land and put first on every ride. We were the first and only ones on Dumbo, Had our own boat on Small World. Daughter rode Cinderella's horse on Carrousel. Got to pick out seats at Philharmagic. It was like this on every ride.

Oh, one last thing. Our first day in the room we had 2 towel animals waiting for us. A turkey and a "roasted turkey" on a plate w/knife and fork. But no matter how much of a tip I left our maid each day, we were left nothing else. I even hid the original 2 animals. So, I stiffed her on the last day and stole the two turkeys. They are currently living on my desk.

I should probably be ashamed.....

But I'm not. :thedolls:

Did you happen to notice if Eliot Dyson is still playing in Scat Cat's lounge?

:DYes..He was there 4 weeks ago when we stayed there...very cool. And as far as towel animals, your aloud to take them. They are made from old not in very good shape towels they are getting ready to get rid of. Thats what i was told by mousekeeping..

Food Court Service Was Horrible When We Were There In August>

Very Convenient Location. We Rented A Car And Were Whereever We Wanted To Go In Minutes.

Thanks JRoberts, I think we may try POFQ again. The pool is definitely smaller than POR and my sons prefer the POR pool now that they are older. The POFQ slide is too short a trip! HA! However, we won't have much time for the pool when we go during this holiday season. You are right, we can take advantage of the hot tub if we want. Thanks, again.

No problem JoDisney, I would agree that POFQ is not my absolute favorite Disney Resort, but for the small size, price and convienence factor, it does rate pretty high. I was in room 5148. It was a ground floor, corner room that was 50 yards from the food court and lobby. Now, the bus service has room for improvement, but it was much better than I had expected. The food court did get crowded close to 8am each morning, but I was usually gone by then. I think what I miss most about the resort was the quiet times I had around 6am each morning. Drinking coffee and walking around the lobby and grounds before all the idiots woke up and attempted to spoil my day with rudeness and lack of respect for other human beings. Nevertheless, It was a great trip, especially when we were picked for a "Year of a million dreams" surprise that last day at the MK.

That is so cool that you were picked for a "year of a million dreams!" How exciting! I, too, love to get up early before everyone. You are going to laugh but I enjoy having the oatmeal at the Disney resorts! I have it with hot tea and I love the quiet. My husband just laughs. I like those little moments.

Yes, I would love to be sitting in the lobby right now w/a cup of coffee in my Disney resort mug. I guess I'll have to wait until next December. The anticipation is almost as good. That and a whole bunch of pictures from my recent trip. Take care,

Were the boats still running to Downtown Disney on the Sassagula River? We are going in May. I found the pool to be of good size. I liked the food court there. We even had dinner at Boatwrights, which, we found to excellent.

We tried the food court at the POR on our last visit. Wanted a change from the POFQ, but that will be the only time. The food was not nearly as good at the POR as at the POFQ. We all really enjoy the food at POFQ.

I too would get up before DH and DS and go and have my breakfast. My breakfast however was the Mickey waffle, whipped cream, fresh strawberries and a side order of bacon. Of course with coffee. I could eat that every morning.......oh I think I did just about:secret:

I would wander around early taking photos also. Loved the dew on the flowers!

I am from Louisiana and have been to New Orleans more times than I can count. I was just wondering how authentic POFQ really is.......anyone visited both? I'm going the first week in February.

I too am from Louisiana. I lived in Lafayette for 10 years then Slidell for 19 years. The POFQ is quite authentic. From the food served in the food court to the grounds which resemble the french quarter. If you're from or ever been to New Orleans you will be right at home. The beignets are a little chewy but the jambalaya, chicken and other items are pretty close to the real thing. I highly recommend this resort.
