Only 9B--which is Club Level. Casitas 1 and 2 are the first of the "regular" rooms to start getting the full makeover (although all rooms in the resort have the queen beds).

I can report that the 4th floor of building 1 is finished. Although the rooms still smell heavily of paint. They are now converting the 4th floor of casitas 2 and 3.

Do you think any of the Cabanas will be finished by mid-July 2009? We are thinking about staying at CSR and Cabanas would be my first choice, but a refurbished room would also be really nice.
Thanks for the updates Buzz. I assume you work at CSR? What do you do?

Thanks for the update. We were thinking of staying there this summer since it has been 7 years since we have been there. Now if there the place is getting refurb, all the more reason to go again.

Thanks for the updates Buzz. I assume you work at CSR? What do you do?No, I don't work there but I have quite a few acquaintances that help me out.

If they continue in their current direction of the casitas, to the ranchos and finish up with the cabanas, I doubt any will be done in July. I'll keep posting updates on the progress though.

Building 9b has been completed and CSR will go live with business club level at the first of next year. Some CM's will see the new lounge on the 16th.

Renovations have been completed on the 4th floors of bldgs 1,2,and 3. All is progressing nicely. Check ahead as to where the work is going on. The third floors of those buildings were noisy; but only during the day (regular work hours). Most will be in the parks at that time, so it is no big deal. But if you have infants that will need mid-day nap, ask when you are checking in.

The quiet pool at bldg 4 is being rehabbed. Should be finished soon.

CSR has the resort shuttle running from 7 pm until 2 or 3 am. It seems strange; but they received more complaints about the shuttle service when they are running it, than when they don't.......so CSR has cut it out during the daylight hours unless a convention group pays for the extra service.

For anyone staying after the 19th of Dec. in Cabanas 9A you are in for a totally redone room. The whole building is empty of guests and an army of workers has begun to remodel the rooms. The rooms are being emptied totally, electric, painting, some woodwork and tile work are being performed. There has been trailers full of old furniture being taken away and the way it is being handled it is not coming back. The quiet pool was not so quiet today!

Cleaned out.

This is one of the papers taped to the window of a unit. It shows the order of things to be done and by which trade. The completion date for them is the 19th.

http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h174/jalynn1976/Disney%2008/coronado0001.jpg

There is a light above the bed. The headboard is wooden as well with carved detail and I believe there is also some leather type of padding on it as well.

http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h174/jalynn1976/Disney%2008/coronado0002.jpg

Flat screen TV with dvd player underneath. There is an ice bucket with glasses and a coffee maker with coffee mugs as well. The refrigerator is pretty good sized as well.

The large dark wooden panels on either side of the doorway are actually sliding doors that close for privacy in the sink/bathroom area.

We always request a room in Cabanas 9b and are always accommodated. However, when I called to reserve for our trip for early May 2009, I was told that the rooms are completely taken. So we asked for Casitas 1. I really like the feeling of the Cabanas location, but still want to be close to the Pepper Market and #1 bus stop. Any suggestions?

Cabanas 9b is the new Club Level building, so that would explain why you could not request it if you have a regular room reservation.

Wow - Nice, and these are standard rooms? We wre there last week and we req 8a or 8b, got Ranchos 7b. Location was OK but it was an adjoining room and you felt like the other family was IN you room. After 2 nights of being awaken several times I requested we move! In additon to the adjoining room..well let me say it is good they are updating the rooms there. The armoire door was just swinging around when open..had to be propped..a hazard with kids in the room. The room was just very beat up. I was not pleased with the room and neither was my husband (and he is NOT one to complain). The first room in Ranchos was really NOT very clean either. The windows were filthy..just disgusting. We were moved to Cabanas 8B - at my request, I asked I be accomodated due to the inconvenience of having to move. The second room was not adjoining and was fine. Cleaner but still PRETTY beat up!!!!

Having said that..and knowing that by next time when we go the room will be remodeled..I would probably stay there again. The pepper mkt was nice, not at all confusing. The ground were nice. I liekd CBR too, it would be a toss up..but Dh absolutely preferred CSR.

I may write a letter about the condition and lack of cleanliness of the room ...but I will probably skip it and who would I write it too?

If I knew how nice the casita room were Iw oudl have requested a new room..and just had a longer walk to the pool and el centro.

We are here and not only did we get one of the newly rehabbed rooms, we were also upgraded to waterview. The room is very nice. I just stayed here in September in one of the olds rooms so I have a few comparisons to make. Here are pics of various views from our room:
Waterview (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/view1.jpg)
ElCentro (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/view2.jpg)
fountain (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/view3.jpg)

I am not so sure about the all white bedding. While nice and chic, I don't see how the comforters etc will stay white, must be hard to maintain. The room is lacking in color though. The curtains are bright and colorful so wish they had brought that color into the rest of the room.
Curtains (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/curtain.jpg)

Also 3 of the walls are cream and they have a cream border with a tannish pattern on it. Then the accent wall behind the beds is a soft aqua color with a soft aqua border with a darker aqua pattern. Really does not stand out.
CreamBorder (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/102_0299creamborder.jpg)
AquaBorder (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/aquaborder.jpg)

The carpet is a terra cota color with starbursts in it. I like the carpet.
Carpet (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/carpet.jpg)
Also I think the room lost some storage space in the new dresser with the built in frig. The old armour had 3 long drawers and the the new dresser has 6 shorter drawers but the new one seems to have smaller drawers as in two drawers side by side are not as long as the old armour.

The desk is a nice touch. Not sure I understand the 2 "ottomans" though and the desk chair is not the most comfortable. I love the sliding doors to the bathroom/closet area. Very nice touch---way better than the curtain that used to be there.
Ottoman (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/Ottoman.jpg)
Chair (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/chechas/Disney/chair.jpg)

I like the room but I do wish there was a little more Disney personality in it. It looks very adult and contemporary and generic but lacking that certain "sparkle" that is Disney magic. My daughter said that it looks like we are staying at the Hilton or something not on Disney property. Just our 2 cents.

I think with the two queen beds they had to eliminate something. We never use the table and chairs (except to collect junk), but I imagine families with small kids used the table more often. We usually get our food at Pepper Market or Rix Cafe and eat outside by the lake.

All buildings in every village now have queen beds. The only rooms left with full size beds are the 100 rooms that will be converted to king size beds. These rooms are scattered throughout the resort. Cabana 9b (Club Level rooms) has reopened and pictures of the redone rooms are filtering in. The room rehab has also begun in the casita section. Casita 1, 2 & 3, 4th floor are done as are some rooms in Cabana 9a. Work is on hold until after the holidays.

buzz2001
01-02-2009, 07:46 AM
The opening of the club level rooms in cabana 9b may be on hold. Some people are reporting that they have been offered free upgrades to other concierge resorts for their club level reservations at CSR. Turns out the soft opening of CSR concierge rooms didn't go as planned and they will be revamping a bit. For the foreseeable future, CSR will only use the rooms as Business Club Level for convention groups that book those rooms. Otherwise they will be used for leisure guests but the lounge will not be open to them. So I don't know if foreseeable future means forever or until they straighten out the kinks since the concierge rooms didn't go as planned and they are going back to the drawing board.

So anyone wanting to request a room in cabana 9b, go ahead.

The entire resort is being rehabbed. All of the rooms getting queen beds have them. There are about 100 rooms that will be getting new king beds. Cabanas 9B, Castias 1, 2 and 3's 4th floors are done as is part of Cabanas 9A. They put a halt to the rehab during the holidays but have now resumed. The rehab began October 08 and is scheduled to be completed October 09.

Less busy buses in the day but busier in the night since most conventioners only get tickets from 4 - close anyways. Truly not an issue, was just curious as to how full the resort is going to be.
Also, if its real full then we won't have the choice of resort area selection. Don't want to end up in Ranchos 7b after all I have read.

Sitting on :cloud9: either way...be there in 5 days!7b is a great building. Its right behind 8a and is close to the main pool and bus stop #4. You also have a quiet pool.

In my experience, when the resort is full with a big convention, it doesn't seem it because they schedule events all day and night. They may hang out at the Laguna Bar outside the main building but they really don't go to the parks in packs. Buses always seem empty, day or night.

We were in 6B last time we stayed here. I think we're in the minority because we didn't mind being in Ranchos.

Based on our preferences - for our upcoming August trip we were planning on requesting 7B. Great location IMO, but maybe I better re-think that.

Hey, I love Coronado Springs, but it does seem that there are a lot of housekeeping/room complaints from people who have stayed in that particular building.

You can have basically the same benefits in 8a and be closer to El Centro.

I personally love the new changes. Though DW and are now DVC members at CSR, before we got married, this was MY favorite resort. The only downside to it for me was the ultra bright decor. The new changes represent the step away form all things bright and powerful and much closer to the deep wood and sophistication I always felt was needed at CSR. It is still a great place to stay and I do miss it on occasion... so many fond memories.

Question re: the rehab -- does anybody know if all the rooms are getting the same decor?? We've never stayed there before, and like the idea that there are different areas/themes throughout the resort. But are they carrying this into the rooms? Because although the new rooms are beautiful and look great, they aren't really our style... so I'm hoping maybe some of the next batch look different? :thanks:

Only cabana 9b will be different because they have dvd plaers and robes for the "business" club level rooms.

When are all of the rooms supposed to look like this? And is casita 1 (other than cabana 9b) the only building that has new rooms right now? We're planning on going in december and still undecided in our resort but if we can get into a new room at CSR our decision will be pretty easy. :mickey:

Buzz, just a quick question because one of your pics has me wondering and I might have missed this somewhere. The pic of the bathroom shows what looks like dark wood doors at the opening. Are those real doors that close off the bathroom area or are they more like walls and stationary with the curtains behind them like before? The new rooms are beautiful. I like this look so much better than the old look - that decor just didn't appeal to me at all!

If Ranchos 7s haven't been refurbed, where should I ask for a room? I want close to a bus with the queen sized beds, but other than that it doesn't matter. I don't need near the pools or the front.

Not many huge updates at CSR to talk about. Still working on the renovations but here are a few little things.

CSR now has blue velvet ropes in the lobby instead of those ribbon line guides. And they opened up the first three stations on the check in counter specifically for the "on-line" check ins. With the pre-arrival check in, they can have room keys and welcome packs already prepped. For the experienced guest, it's very quick. Newbies, of course, still have questions and need guidance, so it doesn't really change much there.

After staying at CSR again after the refurb, I retract my previous statement. I really like the new rooms. I think it was just a bad experience all around. The beds did not have the runner down the middle, which made the bed look boring. We were in our least favorite building at CSR, and the food court absolutely sucked! This last time was much better, which made us both happy since we had enjoyed CSR a lot the first two visits.

Glad to hear it. Having different mugs was a sore spot for me. I know Disney doesn't run the Pepper market (although they should), but I'm still at a Disney resort. It's not like the Swalphin that isn't owned by Disney.
