I'll be staying off property for the first time in May 2009--can I still rent a boat at the Polynesian?

I believe you can. They require to have identification and take your CC number. I don't see why non-resort guests could not do this.

Great--thanks for the information! My husband really enjoyed flying around on those when we went in 2002. He's not so much a WDW fan so I have to accomodate him somehow! :)

I understand!!! Renting water mice and pontoons and scooting around the lagoon might be my husbands favorite thing to do at WDW. I always make sure to build in this time for him, at least 2 or 3 times per trip. My whole family loves it now too!

I agree 100%. The mice and pontoon boats are a lot of fun. We try to schedule a trip on the lake each trip.
