Oct. 15, 1891 – Director of animated films Burt Gillett was born in Elmira, N.Y. At Disney he would work on such early shorts as “The Three Little Pigs,” “The Moth and the Flame,” and “the Brave Little Tailor.”
Oct. 15, 1923 – Walt Disney received a telegram from New York cartoon distributor Margret Winkler, offering to pay $1500 for each of the first six “Alice” films.
Oct. 15, 1925 – Disney’s Alice Comedy “Alice Plays Cupid” was released.
Oct. 15, 1929 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Jazz Fool” was released.
Oct. 15, 1932 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Touchdown Mickey” was released.
Oct. 15, 1937 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Clock Cleaners” was released.
Oct. 15, 1943 – Disney’s Figaro cartoon “Figaro and Cleo” was released.
Oct. 15, 1948 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Soup’s On” was released.
Oct. 15, 1950 – The musical feature “Hit Parade” of 1951 was released. Among the cast were Harper Goff, Ward Kimball, Erdman Penner, Frank Thomas, Clarke Mallery, and Monte Mountjoy, collectively known as the “Firehouse Five Plus Two” (a Disney Employee Dixieland band).
Oct. 15, 1953 – Comedian-actor Larry Miller was born in Valley Stream, N.Y. His Disney Credits include “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,” “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” “The Princess Diaries,” “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” (as the voice of XR) and the 1995 remake of “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes.”
Oct. 15, 1954 – The Disney cartoon “Social Lion” was released.
