Specifically, I am sick of political ads and insurance commercials! I'm ready to start recording everything we watch so I can zip through the commercials.

If I see the Geico cavemen or the Progressive.com woman again, I think I will scream!

Sorry, I just needed to get that out.

I feel the same way. Thank god for my TiVo. Now, I can't watch TV w/o TiVo. When we were in Disney for 2 weeks it was torture watching all the commercials.

I agree - TiVo is a wonderful invention!

I don't think I can see another political ad. Those have to be the worst.

DW and I were just talking about this the other day. I swear "back in the day" (my terminology to describe the years of my youth ;) ) commericals used to be fun to watch. Remember they had catchy little jingles, or they were funny ... some even told little stories or had memorable characters.

Now they're just irritating. :thedolls:

DH and I were just reliving our '70s childhood last week by serenading DD with commercial jingles ("You deserve a break today..."). She found this very annoying, which means we need to remember this tactic for embarrassing her when she's a teenager!

DH decided that there aren't any fun jingles anymore because Barry Manilow doesn't need money anymore! :funny:

I'm sick of the drug commercials. They advertise these drugs and tell you to ask your doctor for them and they don't even say what they're for.

I find the cavemen very irritating but even more than that is the Appliance Direct commercial. That's just annoying - I know some of y'all like them but it's like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

The only commercials I like are the Budweiser ones with the clydesdales. You only see them on the super bowl though. The commercials are getting so bad that you sit there going what on earth was that all about.

We have a DVR so I make sure I record everything I want to watch so I can skip the commercials. The best part is my DVR has a 30 second skip ahead button so I don't even have to scan the commercials. I'm so spoiled that if I find a show on I want to watch I record it and go in my recordings and watch a show I already taped. I wonder if because of TiVo & DVR's the commercials have gone from catchy jingles which most of us remember to more images that identify the brand so as people fast forward on they at least get a visual out of it? IE the Caveman

The political adds are everywhere and so annoying. The other night we had the local news on for the 2:30 break all 5 commercials were political related:ack:. I can't wait until November 5th.

I agree with being sick of the drug commercials, especially during the news... that's all that's on.

I'm sick of the drug commercials. They advertise these drugs and tell you to ask your doctor for them and they don't even say what they're for.The reason they don't give any info about them is because then they would be required to list the side effects, like nausea and diarrhea and all that good stuff.

I'm sick of the drug commercials. They advertise these drugs and tell you to ask your doctor for them and they don't even say what they're for.Ugh, those are the worst!!

After hearing all the side effects, I normally come away thinking, "Sheesh, I'd rather just deal with the disease!"

You know ... "Taking drug x may result in headaches, stomach aches, mild to severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, acne, baldness, knock-knees, the plague, toenail fungus, coma, or death."

I especially like it when the benefits of the drug are some type of social benefit, like anti-anxiety ... I'm thinking, "If I had to worry about all those side effects I'd be 10 times more anxious than I was before I took the darn thing!"

It's REALLY bad when you don't "get" them until someone else explains what Bob is so happy about. (Don't think I can elaborate on this forum).

Actually, commercials have a purpose - that's when I go to the bathroom, or put the clothes in the dryer.

BTW, I LOVE the caveman commercials and the ghecco - they're so stupid, you have to laugh.:D

I'm with you on the ads these days. The ones that get me are all the ED commercials during sporting events. Nothing like watching baseball or football with our young children and have a Viagra or Cialis ad pop on, immediately change the channel before I have to explain that to the kids.

Though I saw an ad for Axe Dark Temptation deodorant last night that was hysterical :rotfl:.

I always think the same thing! I'm too anxious to leave the house, so I pop your pill get diarrhea, and now I can't leave the house anyway!!! So dumb!

I'm also sick of the political ads. I don't care who you are voting for, they are all annoying!!!

I have not watched an entire show, live for at least a year. Even with sporting events I will start watching from the beining 30 min to an hour after the event has started. Usually I catch up with live tv with only a couple of minutes left in the game or about 10 laps in the race when I am watching Nascar. TiVo and the copycat services like it are the only way to watch TV.

I agree I really don't like commercials there is occasionally a good commercial put out but most of the time they are very lame. I also can't wait for the election to happen so we will be done with the ads for a while.

This has really started me on watching most stuff on DVR I just skip all the commercials which is great!

I'm ready to start recording everything we watch so I can zip through the commercials.

I've been recording everything I watch for the last couple of years. Even when I'm home I'll usually watch something I've already recorded. Often I'll start watching the live show at least a half hour late to avoid the commerical. Once in a while I will watch live, and the commercials don't bother me so much ... My wife on the other hand doesn't want to watch any commercials. She gets very dissapointed when she finds out we're watching something live, and not from the DVR.

My parents felt the same way when they were living overseas a few years ago. It didn't take long for them to tire of commercials after they returned to the states, though! ;)

I could not agree more!!! Sometimes I pause live TV at the beginning of a commercial segment just so I can fast-forward through them. The mute button is also my friend.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the over-the-top annoyingness of the loud guy who advertises for Oxyclean, among others. If I muted no one else, it would be enough of a reason for the mute button. Why do his commercials have to be 20 times louder than the show you are watching??? (That was a rhetorical question. I know perfectly well why.)

I always vow to never buy whatever product he is selling! This amuses my husband, perhaps because I'm just as loud as the loud guy when I make my vows.

Haha, I feel the same way. I think my "favorite" drug commercial was the one with all of the women sitting at a restaurant and the one girl pretends to be a doctor and telling her friends about this great new pill. It's such bad acting that I just have to laugh at it. :mickey:

I'm sure that will be the case with us as well.

What I really miss are the Super Bowl commercials. It's just not right watching the Super Bowl without them.

There are a couple where one of the side effects is lymphoma. Huh? I think I'd rather have the disease than the cure, if the cure involves lymphoma!

As someone else mentioned, the ED commercials during sporting events are also annoying. I mostly listen to sports radio, so I get the same sort of thing there.

And why do commercials for drugs or items that are of a personal nature always come on during dinner time? Is that to deter us from watching TV while eating dinner? If so, it's working. I'm sick of political commercials, one in particular for Senator in my area, and the Geico commercials are very annoying, both the caveman and the gecko. I usually change the channel when a commercial comes on, except for the M&M's commericals which are fun.

I absolutely cannot stand the Geico commercials. I didn't think it could get worse than the Gecko, but then they bring the Cavemen along! Now I get to see both of them. Ugh! I think the last commercial I really enjoyed was the one with Ben Franklin I think dancing to advertise a bank. That was a good commercial! I just wonder how much they pay some of these guys in the drug commercial to advertise that they have that problem...I feel so sorry for the guy's kids!

Bob is one commercial DH and I always chuckle at... We also like the "I'm in debt up to my eyeballs" ad. But the general rule: unless it is the Super Bowl, commercials aren't worth watching.

I *hate* all political ads (from president on down). It just seems like every channel is telling you something negative about someone! :thedolls: After a while, all you hear is the blah, blah, blah and I support this message. And I *hate* car dealer commercials! Have you ever watched a dealer ad in the dark? They need to give the "strobe light/seizure" warning!!!

But like everyone else has stated, thank you Tivo. I honestly don't know how we survived without it for all those years. :D

We always make fun of the "It's my money.... and I need it now!" commercials at work. My boss hates it and so I randomly shout it throughout the day. :thedolls: It's all in good humor though.

One other thing that is getting really really sicking is all the stupid political ads you get in the mail. The mail people must just hate it. They come almost everyday, what a waste of paper.
